So let me understand this correctly.
I will be paying $35 for first month of the plan and any activation fee. I can cancel anytime after I pay off the phone($650) and get the EGC which may take a few days. Then I can wait until 60 days before I can call in to unlock regardless if I am on service or not?

how much is the XS Max right now at walmart?
I don't have a walmart nearby so I'd appreciate if someone can get back to me on this so i can decide whether or not to make a 1 hour trip to the store during the promo.
thanks

Are there ever any iPhone deals that don't require carrier activation? I am happily on Mint with my $15/month plan but wouldn't mind a newer iPhone.

Looks like sams club isn't doing a one day sale that includes the $400-500 gift cards this year.

Hope someone does something similar with iphone 12

I believe on 2018 Thanksgiving WM had iPhone 8 deal of $400 off or something like that. My friend opened a new account with Verizon and took 5 iphones. He used first gc to use down payment for second iphone, second gc for third iphone and so on. At the end he had only one gc so not bad. After coming home he called Verizon and paid off remaining balance. As a last step he cancelled Verizon account within 24 hours. He gave me one phone and I inserted my T-Mobile sim and it just worked fine. I am sure this seems familiar to some SDers.

My question is, is Verizon phones are still unlocked? Is it still doable same steps for upcoming deal?

If I go to walmart store, after getting gift card, can I pay off the phone and cancel the service with in 24 hours? I am good with having a locked phone.

Thanks for the info. Does it mean it has to be active for 60 days? Or can I activate line and cancel immediately and phone will be automatically unlocked after 60 days?

Not sure. This is their policy:

"Postpay Device Unlocking Policy

Devices that you purchase from Verizon are locked for 60 days after purchase. Devices that you purchase from our retail partners are locked for 60 days after activation. After 60 days, we will automatically remove the lock. Following the 60 day lock period, we do not lock our phones at any time. "

https://www.verizon.com/about/pri...ing-policy

I don't know if you have to keep the phone on Verizon for 60 days or if they will unlock it in 60 day regardless of service. Personally, I would bet on a 60 service requirement because Verizon can be shady.

I did it online and it was really easy. I selected the phone I wanted and then signed up for the 30 months installment plan. I forgot exactly how long it took to get the eGC but it was fairly fast. I have already paid off the phone so thinking about doing this offer again lol.
Thanks a lot! repped!

Last year I went to Apple store to get my iPhone XS fixed and trade in for an unlocked iPhone, and I was told my iPhone shows up as financed and locked even though it's paid full price and I used it for months. I had to call Verizon 3 times. Unless you are already on Verizon, I don't recommend buying a Verizon locked iPhone.

Do these work on prepaid plans? I am currently on Mint Mobile. Which of the carrier have cheapest plans which work with these? Not looking for too much internet. Thanks!

Sams no longer sells Verizon as well. Double whammy.
