I have mid2009 13 inch mbp that's stuck at El Capitan. Could you link to the hack please?
Also, good deal. Usually just a screwdriver (tri lobe) and bunch of screws will cost you half of that. I may bite just to have a backup of my third battery.

I've been considering a new battery for my 2010 15" and my guess is that these are all the same Chinese battery with a different random "brand" slapped on it.
With that said, I might buy the Other World Computing one just because they are a respected vendor and it makes me more comfortable than buying a random brand off Amazon.
Then i read somewhere that macOS High Sierra would not work well with 3rd party batteries. Has anyone else had this?

I was curious and checked. OWC batteries are $90. Quite a bit more expensive.
I know it is quite a bit more, but knowing that the consequences of a crappy LiPo battery can include an unwanted fire in my house, I'm thinking it is money well spent.

I bought one from OWC and it only lasted me 2 years until started with discharge issues. They only offer a 1 year Limited Warranty. This battery worth it to try at this price.
