Did anyone already get this one?
How is it? Looking for something budget to have on the boat for when docks are near nothing.
Don't need insane range, but want durable and 5-10 mile range?

That all depends. but yes, probably not 9miles at 264lb even on flat roads. Starting and stopping sucks alot of power. You could probably add an XT60 connector and parallel a second 36V pack.

I bought one when it was $139 last week.

The air filled tires is wayyy comfier than the $178 GoTrax G2 that I bought a month or 2 ago. I'm still waiting on the GXL V2 to be under $200.

Hover-1 as a brand is garbage. Their customer support is non-existent. Do your research before you buy this scooter. I bought THREE Hover-1 Pioneers last year during the $99 Walmart deal, one for each of my kids. One failed after a few weeks and was replaced by Hover-1, but it took forever. The other 2 have cracked completely at the weld in the up-bar at the folding mechanism making them useless. I check the other scooter before every ride and it is starting to show signs of failure. Maybe others have had the same issue with the welds cracking (do a search). Actually their used to be a picture of the weld crack by one of the reviewers on the Walmart site. Some people have been hurt when it cracked while they were riding and were thrown off the scooter. I would NEVER buy another Hover-1 product. Complete garbage. Stay away, you have been warned.

Here are things people share about this from the previous thread:
  1. Welds cracks/break often, accident inevitable at somepoint. Careful riding downhill
  2. Battery issues. "It won't travel 9 miles on a charge. It probably gets 4-5 miles, going 11-15 mph."
  3. Hover1 does not provide good customer service
  4. Slime the tires as soon as you can, they pop easily. Or get solid tires.
To be fair, many of these complaints are for the previous year's model, but it does give you an idea.

Yes these complaints are for a previous model which had a retail price of $399 originally and not $199 as this model. I am sure the quality did not go up with a 50% cost savings. Unless you want to get hurt, stay away for Hover.

Ohh wow! Need to go check the one I got form the same deal last year. It doesn't see a ton of use but so far has been reliable and sturdy.

OK, so I checked....
Welds look great, no issues or cracking or signs of fatigue at all.
Tires look great, no issues there.

On that note...
This is a big boy scooter in a very affordable package. Does it have the biggest battery? Nope, Are other more expensive scooters better built? Idk maybe? Is it fun to ride? Yup! Has it lasted a whole year? Yup! Would I buy it again? Yup!

Happy scootering.

I bought a Hover-1 Pioneer last BF as a starter scooter. It worked well for riding around the neighborhood with the aim of deciding whether or not I actually wanted to own an e-scooter (previously had only ridden rentals on vacation), but I wouldn't rely on any cheap Hover-1 scooter for commuting. The power and battery life just aren't up to snuff IMO. The build quality is suspect as well, I don't think it would last long term.

I now have a Turbowheel Swift (dual brakes, 23 MPH, 25 mi range, rear suspension) which is much better for getting around. I personally wouldn't buy anything less powerful or expensive than an M365 if you need a scooter for commuting.

That being said, if your kid just wants to ride around occasionally, this may not be a bad choice

I came to say stay away from Hover-1. I got the pioneer last BF and it was dead upon opening it. I tried many things to no avail. I couldn't get customer service to respond or anything. Spend about more or wait for something better.
