Had this, sold it. Dont recommend it. Terrible battery, problematic wifi, runs hot quickly. Startup freezes. Check on reddit reviews if you dont believe me.

You had a lemon. Amazed that you didn't bother to try and exchange it. Really interesting 🤔

I'm still using my Surface Pro 6 and I love it. I really wish it had usb c like all of my other devices. I was looking at upgrading to the SP7 but heard battery life was worse, while most other specs were similar (aside from newer gen processer and USB C). I was really disappointed they downgraded the battery. To your other issues, as others have mentioned it was likely a lemon. My surface devices have been pretty rock solid, aside from updates/firmware that has occasionally caused a few small issues.

I wish i did, the issues didnt surface until a month later. I was really hoping ms had perfected the surface lineup after what 6 generations? Qc issues aside, nothing makes sense about these laptops, the screen is too small to get an real work done (ms office/coding) The texts are too small unless you scale up. When you do, everything needs scrolling. The kickstand/keyboard combo makes the laptop wobbly. The only thing it is good for is web browsing, but it sucks at too since the battery life sucks.

There are plenty of other pc ultrabooks that are better with small bezel and solid battery life if you are just looking for mobile workstation.
I'm pretty sure the i5 SP7 is the only laptop on the market with Iris graphics + 10nm CPU that is still fanless though. Some people value the noise-free operation. Most Ultrabooks with this kind of power will ramp up and sound like dust busters (like the XPS13) when the iGPU being stressed, and there's generally a lack of good fan control on laptops.

It wasn't even the same part. Intel 10th gen came out this year. I have not really heard anything bad about surface products.and Reddit for reviews? Lol, I am not sure if you know what you are talking about.

I have the original Surface Pro 1.
Still works like a charm, still fast.
I'm not upgrading.
Bought it direct from Microsoft for $475 with the keyboard on a Super Bowl Special on Super Bowl Sunday many yrs ago.

A fun note, not fun at all, the i5 version only has passive cooling. You have to get the i7 for active cooling.

We tried to use the i5 for work and ran into thermal throttling even with basic tasks.
