After having someone tell me "no" over the phone, I went into my local CostCo on Sunday and spoke with the manager. He told me that they'll price match although "they're not supposed to". I was able to borrow a minivan that day so I went ahead and bought it.

This is worrisome and I'll probably regret it, especially since we're dealing with Sony here, but I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt that they'll fix this....within my return window.

I was able to transport this in a T&C minivan... it barely fit and I had to move the front seats all the way up. I also had to tilt the TV but I definitely wouldn't lie it down. Used 1x6 to support the TV @ an angle. I only had a few mile drive and I drove very slowly with a person in back watching it. So far I like it.
Yeah the blurring is worrisome for sure. Sony has at least acknowledged it, but we don't know when the fix is coming and what other compromises might come with it.

In AVSFourm there are also quite a few people with eARC issues and audio cutting out at random times.

That's enough for me to steer clear of what looks like a really good deal, especially for 85". I guess there is a reason such a 'fully loaded' TV in terms of features is being so heavily discounted.

I'm in the market for 75"+ for my media room, that will live with a PS5 for years. I'm willing to wait for a good deal on a CX, Q80/90, or Vizio PQX.

Can't argue with you there... one thing you can bet on is that there will certainly be better, bigger, and cheaper TVs in the future. I paid ~$1200 for my last 50" TV and now you can get a better one for $200.

Will the Burkedale TV Mount work for the Sony 85"? It says it's only for TVs up to 65" (but I think that's just for the width as larger TVs will stick out the side), but supports up to 134.9 pounds weight.

I'm not sure whether to hold out on them stocking it online on Friday, or just go out and buy it ahead of time locally and deal with the price adjustment. I can borrow a pickup truck, but it seems like it's not advisable to lay it flat so I'll have to figure out a way to keep it somewhat upright in the bed.

not gonna read 61 pages, has sony backed off on their 4k/120 stance of "its a feature not a bug and we arent fixing it cuz bandwidth"

Vendor wont take it back, so going to have to chargeback since it doesnt do what it says it will do.

They could change things with another firmware update. However, I'm not holding my breath. I'll hold onto my wallet until it's fixed or a final statement from Sony is released.

Looks like they may have backtracked. This popped up in the last day or two...

So will this be available online on the 20th? Because I'd rather not deal with hauling this thing myself

I am waiting on this one too. I am hoping it will be available. Few days left and no point in picking this up and again going for a price match.

Yeah, this fall under the not holding my breath category. To be fair, if you aren't interested in 4k @ 120Hz gaming, it's not the worst deal.

60 pages TLDR
Links

Costco.com VS Costco Warehouses (physical stores)
  • Costco.com vs Costco Warehouses (physical stores) act as 2 different business units and will not price match if bought from the "other" store.

Costco.com
  • Costco.com Price Adjustment Page: https://customerservice.costco.co...l/a_id/628
  • 30-day Price Adjustment
  • Multiple people have chatted/talked with customer support and have posted proof that orders will be price adjusted.
  • Multiple Costco.com orders even have the price adjustment already issued.
  • Free shipping

Costco Warehouses
  • Price adjustment seems to depend on the associate/store manager so YMMV.
  • The carton is a beast and DON'T LAY TV FLAT when transporting.

4K 120HZ Blur Issue
Hope this helps!

I don't think you can go wrong with an 85" in most rooms. Crutchfield recommends 7' to 10' viewing distance for a 4K TV this size.

I am doubtful between this vs 75' in which will also be on sale on Costco. My seating will be 12-13 feet from the TV and my living room size is average size living room with 8 feet high ceiling. My concern is 85' will be too big and overwhelming for my room but then also thinking that I may feel bad after watching 75' for couple of days and get the feeling that I could have easily gone to 85'?
At 12-13 feet should defiantly go with the 85" ... the benefits of 4K resolution are limited to about 10 feet with a 75" screen. Even the 85" is at the edge at 12 feet.

Yes, they say they are going to address it. But the issue seems very over blown...most reports i've seen say that at normal sitting distance the blur is not noticeable in games. (and very few games will be utilizing 4K/120Hz anytime soon).
If you are using as a computer monitor then it may be more noticeable.
