These won't get lower. BB does this every year, they offer the BF pricing a few weeks ahead of BF and then again at BF. I buy their BF special drives every year and upgrade both my servers and sell off the drives from the year before. It's the exact same scenario every time. This year it's the 14TB. Last year was the 12TB, 10 before that and 8 before that.
So next year is 16TB next

SHR always uses one drive with the largest capacity for parity, so putting one 14TB in won't get you anything more than what the Synology has now. You will want to buy at least two 14TB drives. Replace one drive, wait for SHR to rebuild, then repeat with the other new drive. You will end up with 2TB more than current. If you were to replace all four 12TB drives, you would end up with 6TB more than current.
These sort of gains are exactly why I've been waiting for 14tb drives to go on sale to upgrade my 8tb drives. You might want to consider (the question OP I mean) waiting until you can get a deal on 16 or 18tb drives. And in the meantime? Just add another 12tb.

Easy, 4k blu-ray remuxes for local viewing.
Since video quality keeps going up and ISP bandwidth limiting is on par with minimum wage...... increases a little every now and then. Lol. Local downloads are becoming a necessity it seems for those that like high quality and lots of it. Plus all 5 nest cams streaming 150gb/ month each. 😆 Let's not start with cloud computer backups. 😱 Lame ISPs.

Thanks. Been waiting for this. Just bought 3 for my Synology 1019+ NAS. Running Plex on it to serve up 4K and Blu-ray video and movies to all my TVs. Currently have two 8Tb in the NAS. This will now occupy all 5 bays.

Thank you! I'm in for one. Can someone suggest a decent NAS box for these larger capacity drives? I've got an 8, 10 and now 14. Would love to consolidate just to keep my desk tidy.

I like my Synology 918+. Works well. Consistent.

Can you guys really tell the difference between a 60 GB blu-ray remux vs a 6-10 GB HEVC reencode? Seems like a collosal waste of capacity.

I have full 4 bay of 8T, should I replace existing disk with 14T or buy an extension unit?

Awesome price. I wish I could get a few but I can't justify it yet.
