SHR always uses one drive with the largest capacity for parity, so putting one 14TB in won't get you anything more than what the Synology has now. You will want to buy at least two 14TB drives. Replace one drive, wait for SHR to rebuild, then repeat with the other new drive. You will end up with 2TB more than current. If you were to replace all four 12TB drives, you would end up with 6TB more than current.
The golden question, what's inside?

Extended returns in effect if you're on the fence.

Purchases made October 13, 2020 through January 2, 2021 have an extended return period through January 16, 2021
These won't get lower. BB does this every year, they offer the BF pricing a few weeks ahead of BF and then again at BF. I buy their BF special drives every year and upgrade both my servers and sell off the drives from the year before. It's the exact same scenario every time. This year it's the 14TB. Last year was the 12TB, 10 before that and 8 before that.

Most likely the W140EDFZ. I purchased this SKU a few weeks ago and that what was inside. No more W140EMFZ's it seems like with the new SKU replacement.
What is the difference?

I tried to use 12TB version as internal sata drive with no luck, pc did not recognize it, it is working through USB, do I need to do some setting to make motherboard recognize it?

yes , you will need to use the tape method or cut the power line to the 3rd pin (search google) of the sata cable on your power supply.
I personally just cut the power line as I don't like having the tape method possibly being a fire risk

Can anyone share what tool they use to copy large amounts of data from one drive to the next? Obviously Windows Copy/Paste is likely to fail. Way back when, I used to use SyncToy, but that program is dead.

THERE'S ALWAYS ONE.

Shucking is removing the hard drive from the enclosure to use it in PC or NAS (network attached storage) unit. I suspect the majority of people who purchase these shuck them. I also suspect WD knows this, and is happy to eat the cost of the enclosure in order to ensure they'll never have to service for warranty, as shucking voids the warranty (generally speaking).
No. In the USA opening a device does not void the warranty due to the Magnum-Moss act. Only if you cause the damage that broke it would the warranty be void. This was reenforced a few years ago. Noice the game consoles no longer have the illegal stickers.

This is nothing new. I've been on the receiving end of this twice now. BB really needs to validate before accepting their returns.
