awesome bot bought it at same price about 1 month ago.

Best in the market and even includes self emptying bin. Has 3D object avoidance, virtual walls, metered mopping.

Refer to old thread for more info and tips https://slickdeals.net/f/14426498-ecovacs-deebot-ozmo-t8-vacuuming-and-mopping-robot-with-auto-empty-station-449-99-at-best-buy?src=SiteSearchV2Algo1

You need to enable "Advanced Mode" (default is disabled). Advanced Mode adds area cleaning, custom cleaning, virtual boundary and multi-floor map. My T8+ mapped 2 floors. Mine also added a room no problem. I purposefully closed doors to bedrooms so that it created the initial map quickly, then with the next cleaning cycle opened these doors and it added several rooms with zero issue.
I found depth-sensing navigation to be significantly improved over their Deebot 950 (T5). For instance, my T5 would plow through all our drapes, the T8 "sees" these and gently navigates around all of them. Same for other, hard obstacles that the T5 would smack into like a bumper car if the turret laser was higher than the object - T8 detects and avoids these.
You're correct that you cannot disable the auto empty feature, I agree that would be a nice firmware update. In our situation with a large dog and numerous wool rugs, auto empty is needed following every cleaning... and we run it daily.
buy them on aliexpress:
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1...4c4dXt75uR

shows a dozen for $17 starting on nov 11th

Each bag is supposed to last 30-40 runs, obviously that depends how dirty your place gets
I've had both the s5max and t8+ for a month and the s5 is going back primarily because:
- Auto emptying is a "once you have it, you cannot live without it"
- Ozmo pro mop attachment is very good once you: use floor cleaner solution and use a reusable pad and not the crappy disposable ones
- Object avoidance is nice for shoes and dog toys

Before and after using the pro attachment:

T8 downsides compared to S5:
- crappier app, hard to utilize at times. missing some features the roborock has
- worse and less efficient navigation

If you are serious about a robovac, buy both the s5max and t8+ and see which works better for your house. YMMV with performance or issues.

As beggerking stated, refer to old frontpage post for a lot of comparison and experience posts.

Upgrading from the Ecovac 901. Noticed the runtime got shorter over the years. Can't wait to see how the T8 with auto empty bin works. Thanks OP.

Does this have the AIVI function? I wasn't able to find a T8+ model, only a T8 or T8 AIVI model

Good deal - but I returned mine since it doesn't map more than one floor, can't disable the auto empty feature and can't modify the map to add a room (have to remap the whole house). Again good price, but my expectations were too high I guess - the depth sensing navigation was only marginally better than traditional ones.

I did a bit of research when the same deal was around last time. This is the T8 model with the auto empty bin, hence T8+. I am tempted to get this but I like having the camera in the AIVI for monitoring my house through it.

This has front-facing lasers instead of the camera version with AIVI. The "+" in T8 signifies that this includes the auto-empty station (usually a separate purchase). Some reviewers that have owned both prefer T8 vs. T8 AIVI. I have owned Deebot T5 and T8 and Roborock S4 and S6 Pure so can't comment on the effectiveness of the AIVI version.

You are right - it does map 2 floors (I meant to say it doesn't map more than two - we have a second floor with a step and so mapping more than three would be nice. I am surprised yours added an additional room without an issue - I tried numerous times on mine and it didn't work. Again good vacuum if you have a need for the auto-empty bin - it was just too expensive for any compromises from me (high expectations I know).

it has object avoidance using a 3D laser vs AIVI which uses a camera... to each of item own, both work well but currently this one works better... AIVI has potential to work better if it gets smart enough but currently, this one beats it.

one advantage of AIVI camera is that you can also use it to snoop around your house whenever you like.. which is pretty awesome Big Grin but not a must have imo

it mops where ever you wants it... it dispenses water depends on how you set it as well much like roborock s6 maxv.

quality of mopping is just ok.. like a sweeper mopping. There is an attachment you can purchase that mops much better.

Got this and the S5max and currently testing both. Will likely end up keeping T8. The auto dustbin is the clincher and better exemplifies a robot vacuum with minimal human intervention

This or the 950 on Costco? Cant find good comparison between these two models.
This one has Auto empty, Costco comes with 2 year warranty.
950 is pricier on the ecovacs website.

Are you speaking of personal experience about the vibrating mopping attachment? Almost all YouTube videos show it being marginally better, if even better.
