Ring Alarm 14 Piece Kit available on Amazon for $199.99
Excellent price. I got mine for $189 earlier this year and kicked ADT ($55/month).
I've had it for 6 months now and only had one failed sensor and Ring replaced it for free. I also paired the outdoor Solar HD Cam (it integrates with this set).
Had tripped alarm when I was out of town and Ring customer service quickly called me within mins. I knew it was false as I went into the Ring app on my phone and I monitored the camera and didnt see any activity outside my house. Ring sent my local police to my house . Then called me back in 30 mins staying police confirmed it was a false trip. Ring rep reset the alarm.
I imagine the base station was on wireless? So they jammed both the 'regular' 2.4GHz/GHz wireless, as well as the 908.42MHz Z-Wave band?
I suppose when advertising (yard sign) they would come prepared with equipment for both, but tough to pull off with the mesh network and proximity of the devices, and you are notified if any devices (sensors) disconnect) - they must of kept up a continuous, strong signal to keep all wireless spectrums in use jammed.
Good information to share and always a nice tip with alarm yard signs. A good idea, if you are able, would be to plug the base station in directly with a network cable.
For others to know, there is a cellular backup (AT&T) built into the base station, so if you are on wireless and have the Ring Protect/monitoring active ($100/yr), then the cellular would kick in and continue to provide the Internet and alert access to what is going on with the sensors and overall system - unless the event of extremely prepared thieves to also bring a jammer for yet another frequency range for the cellular.
Bought one of these last week for my in-laws as a gift for their new home. Their current system in their old house requires a landline phone and there are 3 boxes sitting around and a fob thing. Each of these have panic buttons. My son hit one of the buttons which set off the alarm and they called etc.
The question here does Ring have any kind of panic feature like this or fob? They seem to like that ability. Said if they were upstairs and someone got in he could also hit that fob on his keys and set the alarm off. They might not like ring if no but wanted to ask for experience or input here.
Is this not the same kit from Ring? Why are there two 10 piece kits available?
The actual Ring security set is an 8 piece. Retailers can add individual packages of sensors, motion detectors and keypads as they please. The 14 piece i got from ring was a set of 8 piece and separate packaged 4 sensors, 1 motion and 1 keypad.

Just bought this and installed this week. Long time vera user and this system is a huge improvement IMHO. $10 a month for the monitoring service is a great deal.
Same here, long time Vera user and looking to switch to Ring.

Having it for a couple weeks now. Still like it, and glad i have moved on from Vera. There have been some adjustments, at least for me.
I did not realize that even though non-ring approved sensors can be added to the system, they will not be a part of the alert system. Not really a big deal for me but had to use the two part ring door sensor on the large garage door since the currently installed zwave tilt cannot be added to alarm scheme. Same goes for any zwave sirens you used with Vera. They will not go off when alarm does unless they are part of the Ring approved system. I'm guessing this could change with firmware updates in future but no deal breaker for me. Sirens are $30 on Ring website.
I haven't played around with any automation through alexa or otherwise yet. The wife likes it a lot, much easier to use I think. Current thermostat integrated fine. All z-wave switches and outlets work. The keypad is what makes a big difference here. So much better than the DIY tablets/repurposed keypads that I tried to make work with Vera in the past.
We just bought a Ring doorbell which works well. The $10/month that a lot of people complain about is a small price to pay for what you get imho. Plus you dont have to get it.

Thanks for writing up your experience and input. I also use Samsung Smartthings and lover the scenes and automation features, but need a simple solution my whole family can use for securing the home. Also will be adding the Plus membership for active monitoring. If you hook up the Ring cameras can the agents use and talk via the cameras? Would consider getting the ring cameras just for that reason. Also I have a Nest door cam will probably switch that to Ring later on.
Solid deal. Shame they don't make a key fob for arm / disarm / panic. Yes you can use the phone app, but it isn't the same. When seconds can count fumbling around on your phone bringing up the app doesn't cut it.

Probably a stupid question, but what happens if you have the alarm set at night. But you get up to goto the bathroom? Are certain motion sensors disabled?

Satisfied customer for $10/month.
I actually used to have this and since its wifi based, smart thieves bought a wifi jammer and knocked it out and broke in while I was at work.
And honestly, if possibly always hardwire sensors.

Prefer to have one app that controls everything, arms everything, alerts everything, rather than 1 for my camera and 1 for the doors/security system.
Thx
