I have the 4000 and the reviews say is very close to this one and got it for $800 refurbished, once you flush mount to the ceiling with crazy lens shift capability, you won't go back.
Put pressure on Epson to allow returns. Projectors are precision machines and often there is quality differences between units in brightness uniformity, focus uniformity and more. I wouldn't mind getting a refurbished but if it has deffect like this, they may argue that it is within specs and refuse replacement.

I've been waiting for refurb of this to show up. Was really hoping it would be less than $2k. Like previous post said, you can get it new for less than $2.5k (actually $2339 in the post recent deal). Not sure it's worth it at this price.

This sounds great but I have no idea what it means! Flush mount meaning you cut a hole in your ceiling so it lies retracts (?) flat?
And what's lens shift?
Would love to toss the TV and go projector. Thanks!!

Lens shift allows you shift the picture horizontally or vertically. So you can mount the projector close to the ceiling as possible. In case of horizontal lens shift, you can keep the projector to the left or right instead of being in the dead center of projector screen.
