Nothing that a $200 price tag doesn't say. It's a cheap laptop with a cheap touchpad and cheap external mouse. If you're gonna be picky, you've gotta pay up. Simple as that.

It's also Costco, which likes to bundle accessories with the device purchase to give at least the appearance of added value to its members. Many people use external mice. I often use one with my Macs, despite their awesome glass trackpads.
As my ancestors, and their ancestors before them always counseled, "Answer a man's question, and he'll seem smarter for the next 5 minutes, but give him a useful link [zipso.net], and he'll fool people for years." LMAO

Backlit keyboard? Might jump on this but might hold out for a touch screen closer to this price

Intel N4000. Is that good for a chromebook in 2020?

What does including a mouse say about the touchpad quality?

I have two Chromebooks with the N3060, which is pretty close to the N4000. They are good for the most part, but they struggle with zoom (high cpu usage). I would go with 4 cores, if you're trying to use a chromebook for video calls.

edit: cpu benchmarks are much higher for the N4000 vs the N3060.

Tend to doubt it as that's a known selling point and they'd usually make sure to mention it.

These days you can get these specs on a chromebook for as little as half this price (granted, usually more like 25% less, but still...). I wasn't being picky so much as just wondering - unfortunately the closest Costco to me is too far to make it worth it, so I'm not familiar with their propensity for bundling.

Basically, I was just trying to play devil's advocate as I really don't see this being a great (or even good) deal.

I think I should stay away from touchscreens. I broke my last one because I smashed a bug that landed on it.
