It all really depends on why you want the safe. If you're getting it to keep out thieves and such, there are better. If you are just trying to keep some documents safe from a fire or your guns away from kids, this should be fine. Personally I'd prefer at least a 60 min fire rating, as my usage is for keeping kids out and to protect my more important documents. BJs has a 24 gun safe on sale for their Black Friday specials. I think it's $300.

Thanks for the info! Yes seems like i may need a little bit "more" fire protection.
I have 2 shotguns that I doubt would fit (with the barrels on at least), an AR, and bunch of pistols. I like this price point and weight (so I can actually get it down some stairs), but it doesn't appear well suited to the length of shotguns or for storing many handguns. Keypad not lighting up is also pretty lame. To be honest I haven't looked much though, have just been waiting on a deal to pop up.

The 11-87 with 28" barrel is like 48" long. This states interior height as 52". That renders the shelf useless, or I remove the barrel. I have a mossberg 500 that is quite long as well.

For those asking I would pass on this one it's just too small unless you only plan on owning a few rifles. I have a 36 gun Cannon and it's over packed, Remember scopes take up room. If you are looking for something just to keep the kids out get a cheap gun metal cabinet(I use one for storing ammo) for under $100 and save for a nicer safe for the future.

Shelf is removable. Put your ammo, pistols, mags, etc. on the floor of the safe. That said, I keep my bed side shooter next to my bed. With kids, I would keep a pistol in the safe or keep a trigger lock on it. Practice getting both ready to see which is faster in the event you ever need it quickly.

Good to know. I have an 11 and a 4 year old, so everything at be locked up at all times. Currently just using hard sided, locking cases for shotguns and AR, and a regular fire safe for pistols.

Those cases are good to keep out the kids, but it's the thieves that love grabbing guns and why these safes are great (and required here in California). I have a 20+ years old Remington safe and it's built like a tank, holds 18 long guns, but one needs a heavy duty hand truck to move it since 300lbs.
