the JBL stuff hardly goes on sale this low

this is the only true soundbar system that has TRUE wireless rear speakers so wont show hideous wires connected to the sub or a wireless receiver like all others

I think the rear speakers can also be connected to micro USB for charging. Or maybe another less expensive system that already requires power for the wireless rear speakers may work better.

Thanks for the reply! I just checked the instruction manual online and it does indeed look like the rear speakers support charging via MicroUSB. I was originally looking at getting the LG SN7R that's currently on sale at Costco, but this JBL one has better reviews (as expected for the price) so I might try it instead.

For $300 @ Costco, the SN7R is a no-brainer. It's not the best system in the world by any stretch and they have no IOS support for their app, so you can't upgrade the firmware through your iPhone or iPad, but it sounds great in my setup and has worked flawlessly with my 65" LG OLED from 2018.

JBL.com guarantees BF price and best price of the year, but of course none of the other vendors do, so who knows.

So I ended up pulling the trigger from BestBuy because of the fastest delivery (next-day) and the easy/free return policy.

The order was shipped within 2 hours and delivered within 3 hours (!) from the moment I placed it. I'm gonna set it up and test it asap!

I was originally considering the SN7R, but decided to spring more for an eARC model. I'm thinking about the Samsung HW-Q70T on sale for $400 (and plus the rear speakers for $180). Now I'm debating between this one too, but since I'm not an audiophile I'm wondering if it makes sense to save a bit of money and skip on the JBL.

isn't sonos for people with more money than brain? i always attribute to Bose's branding in the 00's. so expensive for no real reason.

I would say a more accurate representation would be 5.1.2

5 = 5 surround speaker
1 = sub
2 = 2 upward firing speakers to get the atmos experience.

I got the non-atmos version over Prime Day, but would have opted for this if it was on sale then.

Not saying this is bad, but I have a fantastic wireless rear system with yamaha musiccast speakers + receiver. For this price you can get a good receiver, discrete speakers, sub, musiccast rear speakers and have a phenomenally better experience wrt sound. I still have soundbars in my bedrooms and they do a great job, but was worth the time investing in a good living room setup. The musiccast wireless really reduced a lot of the complexity of rear surrounds.

I think this JBL is considered 5.1.4 since it has 2 front and rear upward firing speakers also and how they got to "9.1"

I got the 5.1 and I love it...

It took a bit to get comfortable with... When I first got it, I had my Arlo base station near it (as that's where my modem/router is) and it was pure hell - sub constantly sounded like a busted speaker due to interference. Once I moved the Arlo base to an extender a distance away, everything was perfect.

This thing drums (LOTS OF BASE).

We also really love the detachable speakers. When just casually watching in the evening, we often just leave them attached. When watching movies or when we're couch-locked on the weekend we set them on stands behind our couch and they sound great.

Wait my last LG Atmos set had no wires going to it for the rears. I think you are wrong.
