Damn, just bought a Craftsman set with tool box for $120 from Lowe's the other day... This has much more pieces than that one.

They'd match the $161 here? It's showing $249 at my local stores.

I can't speak to the price, but this set looks great!

Standard and Metric
6 point (no 12)
Gunmetal chrome color
Full lifetime warranty
If they come in those trays, then I love the organization

I wish I needed all of this. Makes me want to replace what I have.

I have the 150 piece set that comes in the clamshell case. Overall I am pretty happy with it. Great kit to through in the truck, everything is pretty well organized. The ratchets are nice, but they are not rebuildable. The action is pretty smooth though, and I love the gunmetal finish on the kit. The deep sockets have a pronounced shoulder inside though - most of the time this is not an issue but in the past I have had situations where I needed the socket to be full length when spinning a nut on/of a long stud. All the sockets are 6 point except for the 1/2", which is real nice as I don't have much need for 12 point with so many high tooth count ratchets out there. Would have been nice to have all 6 point though.

1/2 sockets are 12 points.

Couldn't get my closest Lowe's to pricematch the $161.85 price, even when I showed them a store about an hour away selling it for that price.

I was ready to go buy one, until I read a review on line that there is no carrying case, only trays for organization. I was going to give this as a gift, and needed the case.

2 different locations had a lot of trouble finding this one
Picked it up today — it was in the high up storage areas in one of the tool aisles

Thanks OP
Think this might be a pretty good deal

My local store had about 6 of them. They were over in the main Craftsman tool aisle, and 3 of them up front with a bunch of other tool related stuff, but not the BF aisles they have set up on the other side of the door. The ones by the tool area were marked at the clearance price, but the ones up front were marked at $200.

I did pick one up - I'll admit I like the gunmetal look, and my sockets are all a mishmash of odds and ends I have picked up over the years. This is almost complete, and I was happy to see the deep sockets are full size - the ones in my 150pc travel kit are all shorter. I won't be using the trays though - I plan to transfer everything over to rails. Any car repairs I do have to be done in the driveway, so it is far more convenient for me to grab a set of rails so they are right there on the ground next to me when I need a different size.

The size markings are much easier to see as well. I have most of my original USA Craftsman set I got when I went to college, but it was always difficult to see the size markings on that set. The Husky and Kobalt stuff I have supplemented it with is better, but I likes these a little more I think.

Excellent price for fairly complete mechanics set.

I'm going to buy this for the trays. I'm going to put my mishmash tools on rails. 1st world issues. Lol.

Seems like it's around ~160 sockets. Between that and the 120-tooth ratchets, seems like a good deal? But hard to compare. Trying to determine if I should keep it.
