SnagIt is great and really well polished, but if you really just want a better screen grabber, Greenshot is free and solid.

Lots of comments about free options, which is true. The one included in Windows is the Snipping Tool. However, if you are interested in something more fully featured, including enormous editing possibilities, Snagit is for you. It's an awesome tool and well worth $25 if you have the need.

I use snagit on a daily basis i have a full license due to my job. It's really good UI and i don't think the open source alternatives are as good when it comes to annotation with so many presets.

I use SnagIt at least 20 times a day at work it seems. So much so that I am always hitting "PRTSCR" at home expecting it to pop up. May be worth a buy for me.

I use this and Screenshot Captor (from Donation Coder). Snagit is cleaner and I like Camtasia. Support perpetual licenses.
