My MC had only a few combos available, but when I asked if they can sell more - they pulled parts and sold at the advertised price, even when online it showed OOS

so $400 for 32gb DDR5? How is that a spectacular value?
Try reading that again. The CPU for $200 by itself is spectacular value.

Please allow me an ignorant question: I "heard" (somewhere) that having four sticks of this G.Skill RAM is slower than two. Any truth to that? I have 2x16 already, and I'm looking for a reasonable path to upgrade.

Thanks!

yes but depends what capacity you need. bigger just better than faster if you need more

Not an ignorant question, and from what I understand not specific to the G.Skill Ram so much as "DDR5 at these speeds has coherence issues when all 4 slots are filled and so to keep things stable sometimes it needs to downclock them some".

Again what I understand, not a ram scientist lol. That being said 64 GBs at a SLIGHTLY slower speed is infinitely better than 32 GBs that is close to or sometimes overfull.

Our community has rated this post as helpful. If you agree, why not thank

Also worth mentioning you'd get 3 free games with a bundle purchase: the Intel CPU gives you Tomb Raider Legacy of Atlantis and Star War Galactic Racer; the motherboard come with a choice between Dying Light: The Beast, Hitman 3, or Civ 7.

Much better incentives than I got with my bundle in June which was Lego Batman (though the 270K bundle was $549.99 at that point).

No problem, it's why DDR5 non soldered is a few thousand slower than LPDDR5 soldered. And part of the move to CAMM2 instead of DIMM based DDR is because CAMM2 manages to hit the crazy high speeds that DDR5 is capable of without soldering.

I see two options for DDR5. Is the G.Skill Flare the better option over the Patriot Viper?

From what I understand two sticks of larger capacity will run better than 4 sticks of ram totaling the same capacity. So get two sticks of larger capacity instead of 4 where ddr5 is concerned. About two years ago, this was especially true for AMD systems from what I understand.
