That's the first thing I thought, after reading 3 reviews they all sounded like a bad advertisement. Very generic stuff.

Trying to buy a first gaming/school laptop for my 12-year-old stepson. I snagged the $799 Best Buy deal on the Asus Tuf (I believe the model is FA506IV-BR7N12). Just ordered this as well.

Which one should I keep? My concern with the Asus is that the battery won't last long enough to get him through a full school day. This one seems to have better battery, but a smaller HD (and doesn't look as "cool" in 12 y.o. terms, so maybe won't be as impressive a gift).

I'm torn.

This is better for gaming if that matters to your son.

I added the 3 year protection plan. Many say Walmart's plans are solid for laptops. No option to buy after purchase.

It definitely matters, but how is this one better? They both have a 2060.

You can buy it later - but within 30 days of the purchase.

About the Gateway name being licensed to some Chinese company by Acer - I think if that Chinese company was bad, Acer wouldn't give them the known Gateway name for tarnishing. They probably put some restrictions in place on that company so that they do not drop Gateway name reputation down.

120hz screen. To be fair, the Asus has a better processor. Depends on what your son's looking for

This has a 120Hz screen?? I thought it was only 60 when I ordered.

Holy crap, this seems like the gaming laptop deal of the season...

It says 8gb of "onboard" ram. Should we be concerned?

This is the lowest I've seen a 2060 laptop sell for.

Other notable specs: 120hz IPS and not 1, but 2 mini display ports on top of the HDMI. So it is triple monitor ready straight out of the box.

Many of the important ports are in the back which is nice and clean.

Agreed, it'll go front page.

It might not be an alienware or razer or some fancy thing the kids like these days, but it's $650 for these specs.
