Yes, it is on the heavier side. But the whole Laptop is made of aluminum alloy and has very solid build quality. This model does hot have heating issues as well. Added benefit is the Thunderbolt 3 Port which is very rare at this price point.
I prefer a 15.6" form factor, but at this price, I might have to bite. RAM and HDD upgrades should be a breeze. Does anyone know if this is an IPS screen? Also, is the battery upgradable to a 90W cell? Would the CPU be a bottleneck on performance? Any other drawbacks to be wary of?
Just bought it. Thanks for posting! I've been looking for a 17" laptop with a dedicated GPU. I don't really need an i7, plus the RAM & storage are easily expandable.

With the RAM upgraded (and a larger SSD), would this be good for possible video editing? I would not be using for gaming. Just writing code and maybe some photo + video manipulation.

Yes, the GPU would be great for video editing. 6GB VRAM should be plenty for most rendering projects.

It is a 144 Hz IPS Panel with 300 nits brightness and 99% sRGB color gamut. That is also mentioned in the main post, check again.

The CPU will be underpowered. This is an i5 with 4 Cores. For Video Editing, you should look for the 6 Core or 8 Core Laptops with slightly less powerful Graphics. My suggestion will be the Lenovo Legion 5 15, currently at $999 in Amazon, with 8 Core Ryzen 7 4800H and GTX 1660 Ti 6GB. That will be far better choice for video editing.
