Great deal on a Metabo sliding saw that I've been watching. The normal price is around $400

Maybe not a big deal for a casual DIYer but it piqued my interest due to its zero clearance slide which allows it to be placed against a wall without interference.

Reviews look good. Been in the market for a 10". Whats the benefit of this over the 10" ryobi that was on sale for <150 a few weeka ago? Would someone who does basic diy projects at home notice the difference?

I generally don't need things to be super super accurate, and like my current Hitachi saw (only trying to find a replacement for it because I overtorqued the reverse-threaded screw holding the blade in place by trying to turn it the wrong way, and now can't remove the blade), but I'm pretty concerned by the reviews that mention a poorly fitted/made part causing slop in the saw's accuracy.

I would prefer a Bosch, but for 1/3rd the cost, this is a no-brainer, providing you get a good one.
Some reviewers claim it doesn't cut accurately, while others say it's accurate after making adjustments. So it maybe a crap shoot of manufacturing tolerances getting one that does. Also mentioned about some critical plastic pieces which could wear out, but with a 5 year warranty it's all covered. I'll take my chances and order one, If it doesn't cut well, easy return to Amazon.

I got this a few months ago when it was $149 from Lowe's. It's great for a home owner, I like it alot. Recently remodeled quite a bit and it made fantastic cuts out of the box, miters were dead on doing baseboard.

They're definitely plastic parts on this, but time will tell there longevity.

I did swap the stock blade for a Diablo trim blade and rough cut blade respectively.

This is the key. Hang on to that box! If it doesn't meet expectations, the guy in the brown shirt will get rid of the trash.

If you have already chowdered the saw it may not hurt to try an impact driver to get the bolt out, try a few knocks on the impact's hammer and see if it breaks loose the over torqued fastner.

It has been this price for awhile and just not at Amazon. If you can grab it for 10-20 percent off at Lowe's, it may be worth grabbing.

This was $199 last year at this time. Wait a few weeks for better deals.

I picked up the Ryobi and Ridgid stand and it's perfect for me. My neighbor let me use his DWS780 and while the Ryobi isn't a Dewalt, it's more than enough for me. Mention to my neighbor that I picked the Ryobi and he agreed for what I'm going to use it for it's perfect (DIY, remodeling, and deck work). He works construction and said the 780 is overkill for a homeowner. I checked the cut on the 0 and 45 degree and they were nearly perfect. This Metabo does have a dual bevel, so that's a plus over the Ryobi. For the money I can't recommend anything other than the Ryobi/Ridgid combo.

I got this one from Lowe's several months ago at $149 too. It is a great sliding miter saw particularly at the price I paid. Sliding miter saw is much more versatile than non sliding compound miter saw. I would pay more for a sliding miter saw. My only complaint is the laser guide. It is hard to adjust.
