Not really sure if's it worth it, as we don't own an iPad, but....
All the kids, 3rd grade and up in our school were issued an iPad Pro with this keyboard. The keyboard falls off all the time and apparently can be difficult to keep up with. On the school group social sites parents post all the time looking for their kids keyboards.
As an adult, I don't think losing it would be an issue.
I have the 3rd Gen, but it's basically the same. It's okay on the lap, but since the bottom isn't that heavy then it might tip over given that I have the 11inch so I can't speak about the heavier 12.9. I do like typing on it since it feels good to type on even if it isn't like a traditional keyboard. One thing I wish it had is for it to be backlit.

Why did they give third graders a pro iPad? That school should be investigated for budget spending
Any feedback on the magic keyboard in real life practice & use case?
Our school got them as donations.
If you have an iPad that fits, and you want to have a keyboard, this is totally worth it. This is a great price!
