And just to confirm, I had called the CSR after opening the account and they had confirmed that I used the promo code.

BUT the most common facts I've gathered:
Checking Accounts DONT hardpull your Credit (worst case is a soft pull, checking has its own point system)
Definitely need more than 1 qualifying deposit - 2,3,4,5 deposits totaling more than $1000
You dont have to keep 1000 in there (according to ppl speaking to reps), but personally ill always keep minimum $1k there to be safe.
For qualifying deposits:
Paypal, Venmo, Cash DONT work (99% sure from previous data from other banks AND Cap1 itself)
Other popular banks - Chase, BoA, WellsFargo, Discover DONT work anymore (99% fail chance)
Less popular banks - may or may not work, no clue, roll your dice
Broker accounts - may or may not work, but higher success rate than banks, roll your dice
Payroll, Government benefits deposits - YES, these are listed on the terms, what the offer aimed for.
Additional info: your bank transfers should be a PUSH from other accounts into CapOne to have a chance to qualify as ACH Direct Deposit. Should also try as scheduled/repeated transfer (can cancel the scheduling after transfer completed) for better success rate.
Currently don't know of any confirmation from CapOne even if we have completed the requirements or not, yet. Give it a few weeks, hopefully ppl get good news and provide some data point.
Your ONLY concern right now should be applying code BONUS400 while signing up, AND try your best it sticks...It's very tricky, different from cases to cases. Sadly no way to be sure.
Calling the customer support to confirm is of no help as they don't give you anything in writing. So there is a scope for denial.
So, just do what you have to do to open, make those applicable deposits and sit tight.
The fight (if at all) will begin after the month of March 2021.
Then if you don't get the bonus, you have lost nothing. Just take the money out if you already didn't and go with your life with a lesson learned.

We should have screenshotted the success page I guess..
Anyway, my problem isn't the code, it's that I may not be able to get the first DD in there, so then would be stuck with only one and nobody knowing an easy way to do one.

Assuming amazon selling is how it used to be, they put it in your account on THEIR schedule, so it's them doing it, which seems to me it would be considered direct deposit for business.
People are trying to trigger it by making deposits from Paypal, other banks, or brokerages, but no one knows if it will trigger the reward.
The only "for sure" way that we know of right now is SS or payroll.
Warriorsfan's post above sums it up.
