And just to confirm, I had called the CSR after opening the account and they had confirmed that I used the promo code.

I missed the (very easy to miss) box where you were supposed to input the promo code. I called Capital One right after opening the account in November, they said you'll need to call back after February 3 (or thereabouts). I went ahead and met all requirements (and also did a dozen or so bill payments and used the debit card a few times). I called back February 8, they said no you have to call back after February 12. So I called around February 20, it was a long call (maybe 30 minutes), but the rep took down the info and created a case for manual review. The $400 bonus just posted yesterday.
So Capital One is pretty scammy (my past experience as well), but persistence pays off.
Person 1:
- Account opened on Nov 15th
- Direct deposit is still ON for this account. Each month, we are depositing 1001 twice through direct deposit since Nov 20th.
- Made the call today (Mar 5th). they said, they cannot find the promo code in our account. they said they will make an exception request and will take 20 days for an outcome.
Person 2:
- Account opened on Dec 18th
- Direct deposit is still ON for this account. Each month, we are depositing 1001 once through direct deposit. Direct deposit is ON from Dec month.
- Made the call today (Mar 5th). they said, they cannot find the promo code in our account. they asked me to call back on March 18th (90 days from account opening date)
- So, we will have to call them on March 18th.
If any updates, I will come back.

Main number and said operator when prompted then "bonus" when asked to clarify. If you called two weeks ago that was still Feb.. I waited to call til March because the bonus was supposed to hit this month. Hope that helps!
