Would totally buy a Jazzmaster if they offered this deal. Fender, are you listening?

Not really, these days -- covid and inflation and all. I bought the Strat @ 539 a month back and am generally pretty happy with it.

FWIW to anyone still considering this.... I ordered and received the Tele. I've owned/sold many guitars, but this was my first tele, and its beautiful. I tend to like the more "standard colors" (butterscotch, natural, sunburst, etc...), but I really like the way this LPB looks.

Also, never bought a guitar (or anything really) from Adorama, so I was a bit unsure. I wouldnt say it was unplayable out of the box, but definitely needed some adjustments to the setup.... nothing that cant be done with the already included hex wrenched and a phillips screwdriver.

Lake Placid Blue is a HOT color for Strats. Sure it looks great on the Tele too Smilie Fender used to use automotive paint and a layer of acrylic to get the color-it was a custom order color in the 60's.

Jimmy Page played one in the later years of Led Zeppelin- used it to record their last two albums + used it on stage. https://i.pinimg.com/736x/52/26/2...ppelin.jpg

MF has the Burgundy Mist / RoseGold Player Telecaster $100 off for $599.

But with 48 month financing, making it $13 a month.

The price of 2 lattes you dont need!

Out of curiosity, are models like this expected to increase in value if stored properly?

Folks - Guitar Center isn't going anywhere. In fact, they've just had their best 6 month sales revenue since forever. They're flush right now. And that capital allows them to enter into debt restructuring to get their debt down to more reasonable interest rates. Think of it like re-financing a mortgage. They may also negotiate all types of terms with various lenders (such as immediate discount payoffs, etc), hence the bankruptcy umbrella which allows for all the prestidigitation.

A whole lot of people picked up hobbies during covid - and guitar was one of them. The crazy deals were in April, early May. Now, not so much. If anything, you might catch an occasional end-of-model liquidation on one of the Stupid Deals. IMO, in about 6 mos+ there's going to be quite a few good used deals.

I have the Strat in this deal. Got it for $500 last year's deal before they dropped it to $480. I think $520 is a good price. I have fun with it and it was an excellent gateway into guitar for me.

How much of an improvement are these over a well tuned squire? Can anyone point me to any resources or have first hand exp?

No.

They are as common as dirt. They are nice guitars for the money, if you must have a Fender.

Ok thank you. I was at a Guitar Center the other day and saw a Les Paul that was on clearance for $6,000. I didnt ask more about it because that's not in my range. Is that the type that would appreciate in value?

I have a 1993 MIM strat that is a war horse and sounds almost as good as any MIA strat from that year.

As for this deal I would jump on it if you don't mind the color and maple neck.

I miss rosewood but maple does seem to fit teles.

I'm a noob player and Have a squire and MIM Stratocaster. Even as a noob, there is a noticeable difference in build quality. I can't play for crap, but I do notice things like the real Stratocaster is way easier to tune. The neck is super smooth whereas the wood on the squire feels rough. The body is thicker on the fender. Overall it just feels and sounds better. If I were starting over, I would just skip the squire and go to a MIM Fender Stratocaster. 500 bucks is not a huge investment if it's a hobby you plan to stick with. No reason to waste 100-150 on a squire if you're gonna eventually get a real deal Stratocaster later anyway..... with that said, someone who is proficient in guitar can make a squire sound great whereas a noob like me on a Stratocaster will sound terrible.... the fender is still a much nicer instrument though.

This strat is what I started learning on. Daily practice and 1 yr later and I'm having a blast. Like learning a new language, but more fun and you can do it alone (and with friends).

Probably not, because there are a lot of expensive Les Pauls out there and 6K is a ton for a non-vintage guitar. If it is rare and becomes used by a popular artist, possibly, but it's likely to depreciate.

Guitars that I have noticed appreciate recently:
Peavey T60 (was $300-400 used a couple years ago, now ~$600 used)
Pretty much every CIJ/MIJ Jaguar or Jazzmaster that was $500 used a few years ago is now asking $750-1200
Squier Jazzmaster Baritone ($550 or less new, now ~$1000 used)
Wildwood Fender AVRI '65 Thin Skin Jazzmaster (was $1900 new, $2200 used)
(I think a lot of AVRI instruments are currently appreciating because the American Original series is less true to vintage spec.)
Fender J Mascis Jazzmaster (was $1000 used, now close to $2000 used)
Fender Elvis Costello Jazzmaster (was $2000 new, now close to $3000 used)
Any vintage Jazzmaster, pretty much, has been appreciating since the 90s.
I think 1950s and 1960s Strats, Teles, and Les Pauls continue to appreciate.

But a Johnny Marr Jaguar, which is a popular signature model with great reviews, is $1900 new but goes for $1k-1400 used. If it's discontinued, prices might creep up over time, but it's a mass production model so who knows.
The vast majority of guitars depreciate.

Wow, a lot to absorb. Thank you.
