Edit: I paid MSRP basically for my copy, the GIFT second copy was $10. I think people are skimming the post and misunderstanding.
I think I stumbled upon a pricing glitch unless gifting has been boosted to get friends working together. Here's what I did if anyone wants to test if it's repeatable.
1. Bought and activated the standard game through eneba.com for $54 from the other post here.
2. On my Xbox Series X, I tried to launch it and it needed the upgrade for $10 to Series X / S Cross Gen bundle, and I upgraded and played for a little bit.
3. I realized I really wanted to have a friend play it with me and I checked gifting options on Xbox.com. This is where it got interesting - Cross Gen bundle came up as 9.99 on gifting presumably because I own the standard game separately. I bought a copy for my friend and text him the key and it worked for the Cross Gen Bundle.
I don't know if I got super lucky on a one off glitch or if somehow that's how the pricing is setup. I did this last night and sent the code to my friend, I just saw this morning that his key worked and decided to post.

I just checked the ultimate edition and it isn't $29.99 to gift. This whole thing is strange.
It worked for me, to buy a second copy for my friend. That was verified before I posted, what isn't verified is if it's repeatable or a one off thing that happened to me.
