Just an FYI, this was posted yesterday on reddit:

Mint mobile agent just told me that tomorrow will be a Black Friday sale for new members of buy 3 months get 3 free... But the device you're using cannot have been active on Mint Mobile for 91 days. So even if you order a new SIM or phone number it's the device you are using that will determine if you are eligible for the sale price.

So if you are using google voice and renewing with a new number the discount might not work.

Unlimited Data: Unlimited means speeds will be reduced to a max of 128Kbps after >35GB/mo. or use of GB allotment for the remainder of the billing cycle. 1 month equals 30 days. Partial megabytes rounded up. Unlimited on handset and network only

So if I'm currently on Tmobile, will I notice any difference in service if I switch? From my understanding (from reading the thread), Mint is using the Tmobile towers? One of the key things I use with Tmobile is the wifi calling cause I have trouble getting a good signal from inside my house.

At bestbuy it is only on the 8gb data size plan. If you look to the left there is a blue banner that says buy 3 months get 3 months free. The 3gb, 12gb, and unlimited deal is only at the Mint Mobile website, at least right now.

Found it, thanks!
Looks like they added the extra 3 months for the 3GB plan

Can anyone who's had both mint and metro speak to data speeds? Is mint a lower tier priority than metro or they the same?
I have Mint now, after porting in 4 lines from Metro about 2 months ago. Data speeds seems to be better for me as well as more consistent. At times with Metro, data speeds were either slow or very spotty. Located in southeastern PA.

I ported in without any issues either. Did everything through the web or app. Numbers ported over within minutes of starting the process. Couldn't have been any easier.

The only downside is managing each line individually but that's not really an issue with the group account management, as well as pre-paying for a full year for each line. Pay once and forget about it. No more monthly bill reminders. And one of the biggest reasons is Metro's old systems which I had to call in to Metro whenever I wanted to switch to a new phone. Some times the rep would tell me there's a charge (to which I argue with every time to be waived). Just a real pain whenever I wanted to switch to a new phone which doesn't happen often but can be a real pain when I need to, especially when you need to do it for multiple lines.

Mintmobile.com is also doing the 3 months free promo. What you see is what you get, on their site, they got a banner for it on the frontpage, if you want to buy it from them instead.

But yeah, if you look at the terms on mints site they specifically mention best buy works.

Link to terms for above post:

https://www.mintmobile.com/promotions/

Offer only valid through 11:59 PM PST on 1/2/2021 for in-store purchases at Best Buy and at BestBuy.com and at 11:59 PM PST on 1/4/2021 for all other purchases. In-store purchases must be activated prior to 1/2/2021; all other channels have 45 days to activate

So BB is definitely apart of this promo.

So if you buy at Best buy do you avoid the recovery fee and extra taxes and fees that Mint charges directly? And you don't have to pay that later when you activate?

Called Mint today since I had purchased a 3 month unlimited sim kit on Saturday before this promotion. I didn't activate or open it yet. I was told to request a refund and just buy a new one. Seems like a big waste of materials and time. But oh well.

Someone can chime in with specifics but it looks like they're still charging taxes on the cards from BB. I added it to cart and saw this:

"Estimated Sales Tax: Not Calculated
Heads up!
We can't estimate your tax right now, but you'll see your final tax amount in your order confirmation email."

The fees will vary by state, but yeah if someone wants to chime in with some data points that'd help.

This guy said it was 5 bucksish on a 60 dollar order

There's an employee on the mint subreddit that will do this for you directly to get you your refund. Better than phone support. DM the user MintMobileAlex on reddit with your situation. They're honoring everything bought within the last 7 days iirc, and since you haven't activated it'll super easy for them to fix. Saw other posts with your situation on there. You'll get your 3 months without a repurchase.

Mint has the same priority as tmo prepaid and all tmo mvnos. Tmo postpaid is the one that gets the higher data prioritization

I did this (8gb) deal last year, porting in my original Verizon number. All has gone well wrt service, data, discounts. Was able to convert the original offer to a full year at a discounted rate just before the promotional 3 free months kicked in. All in all good service for the year for about 17/mo. Plan ends in bout a month. For me Mint worked pretty well, and even had a good customer service experience.
How can I proceed to take care of this new offer? I just got a new phone (thus, new IMEI) a few weeks ago and swapped the original sim card from mint into the new phone. I am thinking that for me to keep my phone number, I could port it to Google Voice and just have mint assign me a new number at activation of this new offer. Also I assume that i would have to make a new Mint account with a new email address. Anyone think this is the way to go, or am I making things more difficult than need be. Thanks for advice!

It's supposed to be only possible for new customers, so yeah I think you gotta start fresh with a new number and do what you said
