Something is definitely better than nothing for sure.
Anything to help keep water off - just don't want a birdbath.
I did it manually last night and the temp only went down 13 degrees overnight, which is better than dealing with angry neighbors.

Whether it's safe or not I am not sure, would have to see if it's safe pulling like 1200W or so and 15A through whatever plug or cord you get. Technically you are supposed to plug it directly into the outlet and not even use an extension cord with it either. However, I can't see why a cord or device rated for the right specs would be an issue.

I'm not so worried about using an extension cord, but since the unit has a digital on/off button (vs physical switch), once I turned off power via the wifi outlet I'd have to manually turn on the digital button on the unit in the morning. I don't see any way around doing it manually, unfortunately. Thanks for your reply.
