That was not smart. You only get one gift card per transaction.
He placed 9 orders. Think he meant 3 cards each 3 transactions as in he paid with 3 different credit cards

For those wondering, I received this message after I redeemed one of the Apple gift cards.

"We wanted to let you know you've been sent a download link for the item shown below. The email was sent from [email protected]. (Check your spam folder if you didn't get it.)
You have now been charged $76.00 (the price of this item). Thanks for shopping Target!"

those who dont think 16.6%,,,,,,,, you can think this.....if you use $20 GC in target later, then you will end up paying tax...so its applr $100 GC + ($20 traget gc - sales tax) == this is what the promotion here
No the math point is not tax. It's that you are paying $100 for a supposedly $120 item. So if you buy one gift card you are getting 16.67 off on a $120 item. However this math fails to account that the item itself is as good as cash in some circumstances so it can be considered paying $80 for $100. One can easily sell the gift card and subtract that from the $100 value.

Only ordered two because that's all I needed but good luck to everyone else. May seem a little tedious to order one at a time but it's fun and worth it. That's what I did a few weeks back when target had $20 off on spend $80+ on home/bedding. Really got some great savings to redo my bedspread.

Total 20 orders in, I needed to enter the full RedCard account number every single transaction. My morning is ruined. I am going to take a break to play with the kids now. Will be back in a few the for the next 20 orders. Have a great day guys and girls!

My friend.
How much did your credit card get charged? $100
How much did you get back (consider target card is as good as cash)? $20
So how much did you pay? $80
Please tell me if this is not the scenario.

If your credit card got charged $120
And you got back $20
So you effectively paid $100
Now that would have been 16.67%
Which is not what's happening here, right.

I think you're confusing it when you're considering target card as not cash, while the comment assumes they're the same.

If you buy something for $100 and the cashier hands you back $20 because there's a special promotion, you don't say that you got $120 worth of goods for $100. You got $100 product for $80.
I still think you're wrong. Let me try and help...Let's just pretend it's ALL cash and ignore cash back/reward points for the moment:

You are being charged $100 for $120 of cash, aka 16.67% off.

You're thinking of it as being charged $80 for $100, but that's not the case. You are being forced to "buy" $120 in cash. There is no other option available.

I bet Best Buy lost a ton of sales by moving their promotion to the 26th. I know I just spent $700 at Target instead of Best Buy simply because I didn't want to wait.

The only problem again with this silly example is that once you get the extra $20 back. You can use it to pay the charged $100 so you only pay $80.

I got the apple gift card emails after four hours. I don't see any sign of the target gift card emails. Is there a big lag to get the target gift cards?

Assuming you're treating the $20 like cash, you're getting 16.67% off, not 20%.

20% would be if they were only charging you $80 for a $100 gift card. You're paying $100 for $120.

Edit: Unless you're including the Red Card 5% off, in which case it's more like 21%
I am main going to use the apple gift card to load up my iTunes account since I haven't seen a iTunes gift card deal yet. But usually Costco has the $100 iTunes gift card for $85 deal during Black Friday and it may be more close to the iTunes gift card deal for me in this situation.
