Just to answer some common questions I keep seeing:
- Each card needs to be purchased as a separate Target transaction in order to get the Target card bonus for each Apple card.
- You can use the same Target account, no need to make separate accounts (unless you are trying to circumvent the new limit that seems to have been added today).
- You will get an order confirmation email immediately.
- Apple cards will arrive via email several hours to a day later. The email has a link to Target's fulfillment site which will then take you to the actual gift card code. From there you can either manually copy/paste the code or simply click the link and it should open up the proper program on your computer or phone in order to load the card to your Apple account.
- You will receive another email at some point that informs you that the email with the Apple gift card was sent. This email doesn't have any value.
- Target bonus cards will arrive a day or so later via email. I've found that they generally arrive a few hours after you receive the email I mentioned in the previous point above. Sometimes the cards will already be loaded into your Target wallet in the Target app, but the majority of mine have not been preloaded. The email will contain a link that will load them into your Target account. The Target app also has a button that will allow you to combine all the cards into a single balance for easier use.
- The Apple gift cards will trigger the bonus offers on the Apple site (for instance, buy an Apple TV with the Apple gift cards you bought from Target and Apple will send you a $50 Apple gift card).
- You can use the Target gift cards to buy other items at Target that have a gift card bonus offer, but you can't use them to actually buy more gift cards. For instance, you can buy two packs of laundry detergent which has a $5 Target gift card bonus offer and you'll get the $5 bonus gift card, but you can't use the Target gift cards to buy more Apple gift cards.
- You can load up to $2000 in total balance to your Apple account. Additionally you are only allowed to load $2000 total per day. So even if you buy something using your Apple balance you'll still need to wait a day before you can load more gift cards into your balance.
- You can apply up to 8 gift card codes during checkout at Apple.

Apparently, Best Buy will offer the same deal (BB GC) during BF.

Edit: some idiots have been replying to me on how they like this deal better than BB's since GC is more useful to them. I couldn't care less about your situation. I'm just letting people know about BB's deal.

Assuming you're treating the $20 like cash, you're getting 16.67% off, not 20%.

20% would be if they were only charging you $80 for a $100 gift card. You're paying $100 for $120.

Edit: Unless you're including the Red Card 5% off, in which case it's more like 21%

We need to find a way to let press know. This is really easy for Apple, they could just hold the funding and request prof of purchase from both side, then everything is done. What they are doing is simply encouraging scam.
You're 100% correct. See this article (which is also on Forbes) about Apple perpetuating iTunes gift card scams. This one seems to be more directed at the iTunes platform, but the same rules apply since these new gift cards can be used on software, hardware, iTunes, etc.

https://appleinsider.com/articles...card-scams

edit: be careful clicking links on the internet - but if you go search "Apple gift card scam Appleinsider" or "Forbes Apple Sued over $1 billion App Store", you'll find those links.

It depends, executive office usually works hard to provide a better resolution or at least something more reasonable.
This is a typical scam that's going around with all gift cards, not specific to Target or Apple. I don't see them doing anything about it.

They didn't say exactly, but they were looking at the sticker that seals the gift card inside when they said "it" looked tampered with.

After a more careful inspection, I am noticing a faded area under the area when the "sealing sticker" is peeled off. It looks like something else was actually sealing the package rather than the "sealing sticker" that was there.
I guess the ones you got are different type than ones I've bought few months ago from Vons.

Had anyone experienced redeemed card when purchased online? Just trying to see if online is safe, although if scammer is using a script, I would assume online/physical should not matter. I doubt with volume of scams reported in this thread alone, physically tempering cards in this large quantity would be very hard.

Feel free to send me a PM with anything you need. At this point, I'm not sure what exactly we can do to work together to create a case. But I am definitely all for working together to help Target/Apple/Chase/AMEX recognize what's going on here.
Same here is you want to PM me

Not until you give executive office a chance to help, you can't blame them.

Additional Details I found online that might help anyone else who's been scammed. Don't go silent - Call Apple and explain.. Try to not take no for an answer I guess.

Step Three: Spending Stored Value on an App. Apple also knows where the Apple ID spends stored value in the App store ecosystem because each purchase must be made from an Apple ID.

Step Four: Payment of U.S. Dollars (Less Commission). Apple knows the identity and financial account information of the App and iTunes store proprietors who receive U.S. dollars from the gift card purchases because, four to six weeks after the purchase, Apple sends them the U.S. dollars (minus Apple's commission).

Reverse Mapping. If a victim calls Apple and provides the gift card number that was scammed, Apple can use the gift card number to find out which Apple ID(s) and which App or iTunes products were involved in converting the scammed gift card number into U.S. dollars.

Apple can also interrogate the Apple ID and the App and iTunes transactional data to determine if there were other suspect transactions and, if so, suspend the Apple ID and the App. At minimum, Apple knows that it has kept 30% of the scammed gift card value.

Rather than publicizing its omniscience in this Apple "ecosystem" and its 30% take, Apple, as noted above, falsely tells victims that 100% of their money is irretrievable.

No, but I am missing an Apple giftcard. Target order status says it was sent but I've searched everywhere in my mail box and it's not there. I did receive the $20 Target gc associated with the order. Anyone else have this happen?

My friend, take a chill pill and some caffeine and think. That will help you.

You pay someone dollar hundred and they pay you back $120 ($100 Apple Cash and $20 Target cash). You just made a quick 20% profit on your investment.

The only way 16.7% works is if you're considering Target card as a product and not cash. Which is opposite to the assumption your comment started with.

Thanks - I appreciate the advice. I'll work on #4 tomorrow as that's something I didnt think of. Apple basically told me "I see that they were activated on fraudulent accounts, but we can't get that money back for you as it's already been redeemed"...
You need to spread this to all apple blogs and contact all popular appler bloggers and news reporters. This kind of story is "story click" gold to them. This is bad press for apple and target

Imagine how many others got scammed if there are a good handful only from this thread.

I was able to redeemed several apple gift cards. Just make sure the seal is intact by bending it and make sure it doesn't peel off. Also I tried to seal it back but it won't stick again so not sure how some are reporting them being scammed. I am not a fan of the new gift cards from apple. They're better off with the scratcher to reveal the code. Now scammer can just remove the sticker and see the code.
