Just to answer some common questions I keep seeing:
- Each card needs to be purchased as a separate Target transaction in order to get the Target card bonus for each Apple card.
- You can use the same Target account, no need to make separate accounts (unless you are trying to circumvent the new limit that seems to have been added today).
- You will get an order confirmation email immediately.
- Apple cards will arrive via email several hours to a day later. The email has a link to Target's fulfillment site which will then take you to the actual gift card code. From there you can either manually copy/paste the code or simply click the link and it should open up the proper program on your computer or phone in order to load the card to your Apple account.
- You will receive another email at some point that informs you that the email with the Apple gift card was sent. This email doesn't have any value.
- Target bonus cards will arrive a day or so later via email. I've found that they generally arrive a few hours after you receive the email I mentioned in the previous point above. Sometimes the cards will already be loaded into your Target wallet in the Target app, but the majority of mine have not been preloaded. The email will contain a link that will load them into your Target account. The Target app also has a button that will allow you to combine all the cards into a single balance for easier use.
- The Apple gift cards will trigger the bonus offers on the Apple site (for instance, buy an Apple TV with the Apple gift cards you bought from Target and Apple will send you a $50 Apple gift card).
- You can use the Target gift cards to buy other items at Target that have a gift card bonus offer, but you can't use them to actually buy more gift cards. For instance, you can buy two packs of laundry detergent which has a $5 Target gift card bonus offer and you'll get the $5 bonus gift card, but you can't use the Target gift cards to buy more Apple gift cards.
- You can load up to $2000 in total balance to your Apple account. Additionally you are only allowed to load $2000 total per day. So even if you buy something using your Apple balance you'll still need to wait a day before you can load more gift cards into your balance.
- You can apply up to 8 gift card codes during checkout at Apple.
Apparently, Best Buy will offer the same deal (BB GC) during BF.
https://www.bestbuy.com/site/blac...8908893088

Edit: some idiots have been replying to me on how they like this deal better than BB's since GC is more useful to them. I couldn't care less about your situation. I'm just letting people know about BB's deal.
Assuming you're treating the $20 like cash, you're getting 16.67% off, not 20%.

20% would be if they were only charging you $80 for a $100 gift card. You're paying $100 for $120.

Edit: Unless you're including the Red Card 5% off, in which case it's more like 21%

So, I assume the eGC at target.com will be more safe. Any tip to how to add them to iCloud account to be used for education store? Thx

Still taking a long time to receive the Apple Gift cards. I ordered yesterday early evening (Eastern time), this morning still nothing. I started with just 4 cards, planning to buy 6 more, but wanted to make sure everything went smoothly with all of the issues people on the thread have been experiencing.

Can someone update the wiki to confirm:
Deal page says "$20 Target GiftCard when you spend $100 or more on Apple Gift Cards (email delivery). Not valid on previous orders. Redemption limit one gift card per guest transaction."

Does that mean I can only use one $20 Target gift card per transaction? Because that would be a big limitation.

It means you can only buy one $100 Apple gift card per transaction and get a $20 Target Gift Card. So if you want lets say 10 $100 Apple gift cards, you need to do 10 separate transactions to also receive 10 $20 Target gift cards. The Target gift cards should operate like normal Target gift cards and you can use multiples (not sure what their limit is on # of gift cards per transaction).

BUYER BEWARE
-------------------------------------------------------

Long time lurker - one of my times posting, but this has gotten me so mad....

I bought over 10pcs of the $100 apple gift cards and only 1 of them worked. The rest were already redeemed before I returned home to use them. Some data points:
- Similar to Yong0644, I purchased them in a Target store in the greater San Diego area. Others were scammed in NJ and San Jose based off what I can tell
- I called Apple. The rep was able to check the value of other cards without ripping the seal. Same situation as others. Money is gone so Apple can't do anything or provide additional info due to legal reasons. A case was created for investigation.
- I called Target Relations (1-800-275-2273 --> Option 4 then 3 then 2. Was told I needed to speak to a "gift card specialist" but they're closed for the night. Will call again tomorrow
- As far as I could tell, the normal shopper will not be able to tell the difference between the ones that have been tampered with. Looking back at them, they all look geniune.
- Planning on filing a police report at the store if they cannot refund tomorrow
- Tried finding all the other mentions of this scam/fraud in the thread and quoted them below as additional data points. I'm sure I'm missing people though.

Honestly, I fully blame Target. My suspicion is a group of people at Target are accessing the codes and re-sealing the gift cards.

Question for the community:
1) I saw some posts about the online codes as well. Does anyone have trouble redeeming the $100 Apple gift card if sent electronically?
2) Any help from those affected would be greatly appreciated. This is only the surface and I'm sure many more are affected who don't even realize they've been robbed.

Thanks in advance,
Would be really helpful if those who had purchased fraudulent cards could post pictures of the seal / back of package so we can know what to look for if there was any tampering.

Just spoke with customer service, still have not received a card from Sunday even though my order says the email was sent. I did receive the email that says the link was sent, but never got the link. My 2nd order was fine, it is my first. They told me to wait another 24 hours but I doubt it will come, will need to find a way for them to resend it.

I want to buy a macbook air that costs over $1000 at the apple edu website. Can I use as many apple giftcards to make the purchase online or would it be better to add the gift cards to my apple ID?

When you go to targetgiftcardcenter.com and put in the email you used, do all of your purchased giftcards show up there automatically? Or do they only show up after you click on the email link they sent you? Since I am missing one, even though it says they sent it, I went here and it is not showing up there either.

Why are people worried about getting fraudulent cards from Target? No one can open the cards, use them, and put the seal back. A Target employee has to unlock the card for it to even work. So if your cards were already used, all Target would need to do is check the ID of the person in their computer system who unlocked the card. A gift card is absolutely useless until someone at the register unlocks it. When you buy one, your receipt even shows you the unlock code that was used.

A batch of three cards I purchased with documented receipts could not be loaded to my account. Upon calling Apple, they said the cards never loaded. I called TD Bank, which is the bank that handles the Red Card and the representative stated that he sees the charge going in but getting reversed at the same time. All the Target gift cards did come through and II used them already.

Fast forward two days after, the charges DID post to my account but the Apple cards were never loaded.

I am not sure if fraud is involved like many on this forum say. It may be just the fact that the point of sale system at Target is wacky. It charges you for activating the cards but then it never activates those cards.

does the Apple store ever do sales on their products? like i frequently see iPad on sale at retailers, butt dont think i have ever seen one on sale direct. that sale price could out weigh the value of getting target gift cards.
