Yes, if you order through Apple.com online and pick up in store, the maximum giftcards that can be applied to the order will be 8 only. However, one way to work around that is added the giftcard into your AppleID account first www.apple.com/redeem - maximum amount you can have under your AppleID is $2000, then you can use the giftcards for the rest.
In able to add balance, either use apple.com/redeem and follow the steps or
go to Apple.com --> select shopping cart --> account --> "your apple balance account" --> Manage balance --> add money to balance/ redeem gift card voila!
Once you have added the giftcard into your "apple balance account" (reminder: only $2000 max), during the ordering process, make sure to sign in to your AppleID, and it will show that you have *insert how much credit you got here* and hit "apply", the credit will then apply to your order.
Scenarios 1:
Total order is $2200. Apply $2k credit from previous steps, then you "pay with Apple giftcard" to order…enter giftcard pin…and done!
Scenarios 2:
Total order is $2900 total. Apply $2k credit from previous steps, then "pay with Apple giftcard" to order …entering $100 gift card pin 8 times… pay $100 with debit/credit/paypal.
NOTE: you can use however many giftcard in Apple store to buy products if you want… however keep in mind, all shopping required reservations since they only allowed limited amount of people inside the store at once due to the pandemic.
NOTE **: Yes, you can use Apple gift card for anything, to pay for AppleCare+, books, apps, subscriptions, pay for accessories, etc. "treat it like cash" and yes, it has no expiration dates.

There is a 20 transaction limit on the RedCard when used at Target.com. In other words, you can place 20 online orders on Target.com per 24-hour period. There is no limit on the in-store purchase. Unknown if this limit apply to the RedCard with the MasterCard logo.

- Each card needs to be purchased as a separate Target transaction in order to get the Target card bonus for each Apple card.
- You can use the same Target account, no need to make separate accounts (unless you are trying to circumvent the new limit that seems to have been added today).
- You will get an order confirmation email immediately.
- Apple cards will arrive via email several hours to a day later. The email has a link to Target's fulfillment site which will then take you to the actual gift card code. From there you can either manually copy/paste the code or simply click the link and it should open up the proper program on your computer or phone in order to load the card to your Apple account.
- You will receive another email at some point that informs you that the email with the Apple gift card was sent. This email doesn't have any value.
- Target bonus cards will arrive a day or so later via email. I've found that they generally arrive a few hours after you receive the email I mentioned in the previous point above. Sometimes the cards will already be loaded into your Target wallet in the Target app, but the majority of mine have not been preloaded. The email will contain a link that will load them into your Target account. The Target app also has a button that will allow you to combine all the cards into a single balance for easier use.
- The Apple gift cards will trigger the bonus offers on the Apple site (for instance, buy an Apple TV with the Apple gift cards you bought from Target and Apple will send you a $50 Apple gift card).
- You can use the Target gift cards to buy other items at Target that have a gift card bonus offer, but you can't use them to actually buy more gift cards. For instance, you can buy two packs of laundry detergent which has a $5 Target gift card bonus offer and you'll get the $5 bonus gift card, but you can't use the Target gift cards to buy more Apple gift cards.
- You can load up to $2000 in total balance to your Apple account. Additionally you are only allowed to load $2000 total per day. So even if you buy something using your Apple balance you'll still need to wait a day before you can load more gift cards into your balance.
- You can apply up to 8 gift card codes during checkout at Apple.

20% would be if they were only charging you $80 for a $100 gift card. You're paying $100 for $120.

Edit: I have 8 pending charges and 4 pending credits on my Freedom account.
First day I went was on the 23. I tried buying 16 in hand by self-checkout. I was being so clumsy in scanning (scanned the wrong barcode) and not aware of the process that I had to call over a CSR as the screen required it. She saw my stack and asked how many I was buying. I told her 16 and informed me the limit was 10 purchases for $1000 and that next time I should use assisted-check out so as not to hold up the (non-existent) line. A different CSR came over and was like "just to check, no scam going on right? this is a common fraud going on" and I told her I plan to buy a phone and she left. I used my CITI card 7 times until they blocked it, then finished it with my BoA card. I wasn't aware that Target gave me 4% off, which is why I didn't use it (i figured GC's were 0% off).
My wife went back a few hours later and bought 10 more with assisted check-out. I unblocked our CITI account. She was able to buy 7 more, until blocked again (lol). And she finished up with the Chase card.
I went back the next day and bought 4 more with my Target card via assisted check-out. 4% discount.
Today I went back and attempted to buy 10 and was told the limit is $300. "Apple is setting the limit to $300. Yes there is a $1000 limit on gift cards - you can buy Target gift cards". She was also insistent that I could buy all 3 and get a $60 card. I had to tell her no and to ring it up separate because that's how it works. Manager even came over to tell me the limit was $300...sigh. She said OK and bought those 3 with my Target card. Had my wife go back and she was able to use her charm for 4 more. I plan to get 3 more.
Each transaction resulted in a pop-up on screen that said something to the effect of "Congratulations, please scan a target GC for $20!"
