You got it. While I am a BGE owner, they are all fairly similar in behavior. They are unaffected by the weather (depending on the top you put on it) and are able to hold steady heat for a very, very long time as they are more insulative than conductive. Much higher efficiency than a thick metal barrel/pit and can be at F700+ in a short amount of time, as well as hold steady at 225f.
There are disadvantages, like the surface area may be lower than you might think, but multi-layer cooking gets you the ability to have a TON of stuff on there. In a BGE large I had ribs, a butt, and a full brisket all going at the same time. 24hrs, no reloading of charcoal. All for a unit that can fit in a table vs being as large as a table.
Is it the best thing since sliced bread? No... but it can make the bread before you go slice it! (or pizza at 800f! Not quite as good as a dedicated pizza oven, but it is close.)
For anyone contemplating, this is probably the best price we will get on this model, shipped, this year. I've been tracking the price of these very closely across retailers. Don't think we're going to see Sub-800 this year on the C2.

What makes these so good? I bbq on a 1/4 inch steel pit, I can get a custom made one with a fire box and a smoker for 750. Are these like an oven set it and leave it alone?
