For anyone debating this versus the new Air, you have to look at the Air the same way you would the Pro. Only true creatives and those looking for the utmost premium experience will see the true value in the Air.

I went with the regular iPad after much debate and don't regret it one bit. After using/owning every level of iPad in the last, having the "cheap" version has its advantages. First being that this design, while some say is outdated, has been in production for so long that many of its quirks have been ironed out. The lack of laminated display also means you won't have costly replacements, nor will you see the level of backlight bleed or bezel pressure points that rough handling can cause issues with.

The screen quality is also excellent for content consumption. The lack of Truetone is my biggest gripe, but you'd only notice the difference comparing it side by side with another model.

I hope some of this info can be helpful to those of you looking. At the end of the day, I would say take one of these and put the extra money into nice accessories.

If you have Citi Costco you get additional 2 years of warranty, it's the reason why I always buy all my electronics with it.

Can't compare the 8th Gen and Air 4th Gen in my opinion. They are completely different in display technology , camera technology and processing speed. However mostly likely they will give you a similar level of performance in day to day use. Most app designers will optimize their software to target the best selling iPad .

Btw not having a headphone jack on the Air and pro are really annoying to me .
