How many have actually had that problem though? I imagine it's a result of people slamming their weights down as if they're in a gym
this, don't treat them like regular dumbbells.

It happened to me. One of the plates narrowly missed my foot. I have never slammed it down.

Sure, Watch this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AKT-WV5QaLM
The plastic parts which hold the weights are delicate and tend to break over the time and may cause injury.
Bowflex has no plan to make it a better product by doing something like what the person in the video does.
He developed it and manufacturing it for all the bowflex owners to make the product work for lifetime.
I've had mine for 8 years - use them 3x a week. No issues. The dial is stiffer on one, but works well.

I'm seeing conflicting statements. With thousands of reviews at almost 5 stars, I just don't see this as something common. The video linked also doesn't show where to buy the parts if it does happen

I had the bowflex but sold it and got the power block instead. If you had the choice to wait get the powerblock because it feels way more solid and changing weight is so much easier. The bowflex is also overly large and the length stays constant even at the lowest setting. The powerblock size gets smaller when on lower settings. The powerblock also has flat sides so it doesn't hurt on ur lap. When I had the bowflex the mechanism jammed numerous times also and I had to YouTube how to fix it. It's just annoying in the middle of a workout.

Got these for 200 many years ago. Still going strong. Use them a lot but I am not hard on them. No "plastic deterioration" issues.

I missed them the last time they were up, but after looking all over I ended up ordering the FLYBIRD Adjustable Dumbbell 25 LBS. They are only 25 lbs each but Free shipping & $30 Off (CODE: FLYBIRD30) & no tax. I ordered them separate to get them for $108 each. They should get me by until hopefully a good deal on 1090's or lower price on 552's.

Not a bad deal, keep in mind the Bowflex have over double the weight capacity. 25 pounds is fine for a home gym, but it won't get you far after a few months of training.

I'd buy the Bowflex if the warranty was better or if they had a Black Friday promotion that brought these back to their original ~ $200 retail price (unlikely due to demand). I thought I saw these with a 10-year warranty a few years ago.

This is what kills me. I have the 90lb ones and its so damn uncomfortable to do most things because they are so long.

I got these for retail back in April and have made some significant gains. Save a lot of room with these. There are some exercises that are more difficult to do because these dumbbells are much larger than normal ones, but there are modified exercises for almost every body part. Highly recommended.
I've had these for about a year now and love the convenience and small footprint of these. I also agree with what he said. Highly recommend as well.

I remember a few years back these were on clearance at Walmart for $120 I believe. Unfortunately there were none available in my area.

Just got these delivered today from Walmart when they came in stock.

Luckily Powerblocks came in stock last week as well and decided to keep those and have these listed for sale $450.

$80 difference considering tax and to get them 3 months sooner as a deal.
