$1299 list price. On sale for $848. 35% off. Brand new model. The matching dryer is also on sale for the same price. I ended up price-matching at Lowes. I haven't checked but most of the other model #s are likely on sale too.
How are these Lg units? I see Costco has an all in one washer dryer stacked unit that is like 1800 and apparently smaller than two separate pieces. Idk
I just bought the WM3900HBA | DLEX3900B (2019 model) from Costco, for $1449 for the pair, in white ($1500 black). Seems like not much has changed, and paired with the Costco credit card, brings it to 4 years warranty, and free white glove install with all the hoses etc.
China Tax? Pretty sure LG switched production to the US since they just built a massive appliance factory. Very few LG machines were made in China in the first place. Mine is made in Korea (washer from 2013 and dryer from 2004) and then they switch a little production to China then to Vietnam and now the US. Also I'd recommend matching at best buy and buying there. Best Buy's appliance department is absolutely amazing and their Geeksquad warranty is even better. I've had zero trouble with them and have bought most of my appliances from there

It is true that in Europe they are cheaper but the ones in Europe are much smaller in capacity as well. It is hard to find a washer that is 4.5 cubic feet in capacity which is a 16kg washer. Most are half that size. I mean when you are comparing appliances the ones in America are given much more features and technology since the landscape is more competitive here. In addition, you are right that prices have gone up but it is pretty slight. I bought a white version of this LG for $749 back in 2013 the graphite/black version is $100 extra so it is right around similar price. As for machines lasting longer in Europe it's actually more of the detergent they use too. Liquid soap tends to gum up the machines which is why every repair person tells you to either use powder (like the rest of the world) or run the tub clean ever 2 months or so which nobody (including me does) leading to that nasty buildup and corrosion on the bearings if you are adamant about liquid soap
Geeksquad has been a nightmare to me. Samsung fridge keeps freezing the icemaker and they have fixed it 6 times but won't replace the unit. Fixes last about 1 month each.

Depending on the state and/or county, you might have EnergySave credits you can use.
Also as a HD CC member, I also recently got a $75 off $500 coupon as well.
That sweetens the pot for me and although I wasnt looking at replacing my 14 year old washer/dryer, maybe now is a good time.....
