R-SIM is a SIM card add-on that looks like a really thin SIM card that mounts on top of your nano sim (or below depending on the model) that allows you to bypass the sim lock by hard coding a new ICCID that is unlocked.

You can buy the R-SIMs off ebay/amazon and they are usually $10 give or take.

It works reasonably well and the wiki talks about how to operate it, the only challenge is sometimes iOS updates break it and sometimes you need a new ICCID but for the most part it's great and allows you to use a SIM locked phone with any provider. and in this case you dont have to wait 180 days with Cricket to get an unlock code.

Keep in mind it is unlike the factory unlocking process which is permanent. Here you are dependent always on the R-SIM.

back in the day it also went by the name Gevey SIM.

As long as you have an old Sprint SIM card laying around (they're reusable)... and an IMEI from a phone that's compatible with Sprint's network, you can sign up for the $5 service (data only) or if you want to play it safe... $6 service (500mb data, 100 min). Pay for service, enter in IMEI and SIM card info, activate. You'll have instant access to a new phone number, pin to access port out info.

Can someone explain it to me like I'm 5? I read the thread, but couldn't find my question. My wife is on AT&T prepaid and I want to get her this phone and don't mind staying on Cricket for 6 months on the $30 or $40 plan. I want to keep her number, how do I do that? If I buy a T-mobile number off Ebay, would that somehow let me keep the same number? Thanks in advance.
U can port her current number from att prepaid over to cricket. The ebay port in number are for people who only need the locked phone from crickets

Edit: see comment below as i didnt know att cant be port to their mvno

AT&T number cannot be ported into Cricket wireless as it is AT&T MVNO.

Keeping the same number and still using it with this deal is not possible imo.

Wiki says :

STEP 1
If you have a non-AT&T number, you can port into Cricket. If you have an AT&T number, you can purchase a non-AT&T number from eBay

I think there is a 90 day waiting period before a number can be ported back into the same network it was from to be considered a new line.

1) After the first month of service can I cancel service without any fee/penalty?

if so, the total final cost is

$49 64GB
$60 Month service
Tax on phone

is that right?
Yea. You can extend the plan to two months by downgrading the $60 to $30. Read wiki. Since this is prepaid you don't owe anything. Make sure to complete the port in though.

I bought one from total wireless that hasn't arrived yet. Can I refuse the package when it arrives to avoid shipping costs?

Not sure if this will work (or worth the effort) but a popular cash back site will give you $5 cash back for new activations with Cricket. Maybe it'll offset your port-in number purchase off eBay?

Edit: Sorry, didn't know cash back site names were blocked.

1. Port your wife's number to tello,
Then port in to cricket from tello.

2. Get a number from ebay or somewhere.
Use that number to buy the phone.
Later ask if you can change ebay number with your wife's number.
If they don't do that, add your wifes number to your new cricket account with ebay number.
Port out or cancel the number from ebay or somewhere.
Now your wife's number is the only number on the account, and put your wife's sim
on the iphone se.

If I plan to use the iPhone SE for T-Mobile trade in, can I just put in a T-Mobile number to get the discount but never complete the port-in after receiving the phone?

If you use tello referral you will get to get $10 credit.
Select $5(+tax) plan for first number, you will get another $10 tello dollars into your account.
You can use those $10 (No Tax) credit to create 2 more numbers. Finally you will get 3 numbers for $5.

NOTE: You need to have compitable sim cards and mobiles.

PM me if you need referral code.
Thanks, do you know how to look for my account # and pin in Tello?
