R-SIM is a SIM card add-on that looks like a really thin SIM card that mounts on top of your nano sim (or below depending on the model) that allows you to bypass the sim lock by hard coding a new ICCID that is unlocked.

You can buy the R-SIMs off ebay/amazon and they are usually $10 give or take.

It works reasonably well and the wiki talks about how to operate it, the only challenge is sometimes iOS updates break it and sometimes you need a new ICCID but for the most part it's great and allows you to use a SIM locked phone with any provider. and in this case you dont have to wait 180 days with Cricket to get an unlock code.

Keep in mind it is unlike the factory unlocking process which is permanent. Here you are dependent always on the R-SIM.

back in the day it also went by the name Gevey SIM.
As long as you have an old Sprint SIM card laying around (they're reusable)... and an IMEI from a phone that's compatible with Sprint's network, you can sign up for the $5 service (data only) or if you want to play it safe... $6 service (500mb data, 100 min). Pay for service, enter in IMEI and SIM card info, activate. You'll have instant access to a new phone number, pin to access port out info.
I bought 2 already. total cost $196 for 2 phones. trade in value of SE at apple is $210

I see that the site allows me to purchase $30 plan along with $49 phone. Doesn't match the instruction of getting $60 plan for the deal. Am I missing something?
Add to cart with $30 plan and phone price will go up to $250 -- select the $60 plan then it'll go back down to $50

Thank you everyone who pointed out. $30 plan doesn't apply the deal at checkout. Have to choose $60 plan.

This deal is a no brainer if you consider perks, Apple TV+ till Feb 2021, 30 days free trial with HBO Max to watch Wonder Woman 1984
Speaking of Apple TV..is this similar or better/worse than Netflix or Amazon Prime tv (I rarely watch tv and not interested in paying for movies)? I got a iPhone 6S this past Spring on the Verizon prepaid deal ($74.) and never did sign onto the Apple TV. Will it work on Chrome cast device? Comments welcome.

Has anyone actually unlocked a Cricket phone?

> The device you want to unlock has been active for at least six months of paid service on that device.

Does this mean you would actually have to pay for the 7th month or could you unlock it during the 6th month and then port out?

Couple of years back AT&T has tool to unlock and had accepted cricket phone. I was able to unlock one without 6 months tie. Not sure it is still possible.

It depends on the days of the 6 months you are talking about. It must be for 180 days.

That loophole was closed long time ago.

Thanks, do you know how to look for my account # and pin in Tello?

The information needed to port out your number to a different provider can be found under the "Port Out" section of the "My Phone" tab in your Tello account.
For security reasons, you will need your 4-digit Tello Security PIN to retrieve your Port Out information.
Your Tello Security PIN was issued to you on sign-up via the "Welcome to Tello! Here's your PIN" email. Hopefully, you already changed the Security PIN to one that you prefer and can easily remember.
You can also reset your Security PIN by going to your "My Information" page clicking on the Green "Change" button beside "Security PIN" and requesting a PIN reset.

Netflix and Prime definitely has more contents than Apple TV+, but they do has some good ones and more contents are added. You can airplay to newer TV or Roku, Apple TV+ app is on PS4 and Xbox too.

I would've jumped on any one of those deals if the screen wasn't a tad too small for today's phones.
You think that's small I am still using the 1st generation iPhone SE.
