R-SIM is a SIM card add-on that looks like a really thin SIM card that mounts on top of your nano sim (or below depending on the model) that allows you to bypass the sim lock by hard coding a new ICCID that is unlocked.

You can buy the R-SIMs off ebay/amazon and they are usually $10 give or take.

It works reasonably well and the wiki talks about how to operate it, the only challenge is sometimes iOS updates break it and sometimes you need a new ICCID but for the most part it's great and allows you to use a SIM locked phone with any provider. and in this case you dont have to wait 180 days with Cricket to get an unlock code.

Keep in mind it is unlike the factory unlocking process which is permanent. Here you are dependent always on the R-SIM.

back in the day it also went by the name Gevey SIM.

As long as you have an old Sprint SIM card laying around (they're reusable)... and an IMEI from a phone that's compatible with Sprint's network, you can sign up for the $5 service (data only) or if you want to play it safe... $6 service (500mb data, 100 min). Pay for service, enter in IMEI and SIM card info, activate. You'll have instant access to a new phone number, pin to access port out info.

I think that we are going to have another botched activation issue like we had during the iPhone 8+ deal in September. Cricket Wireless has already ported in my TracFone number even before shipping my order that was placed this early morning. Well, I don't mind them botching the activation process if they would give $60 credit like they did last time! Big Grin

Need help. I'm current cricket customer w grandfathered 5/100 plan. I want to get 4 new phones on this deal. What's the cheapest way? I've ordered 4 tmobile numbers already. Is it better to open 4 new accounts w referral codes or just 1 account w all 4 phones and immediatley cancel & put my existing sim in? would that 2nd option also still allow to be unlocked after 6 months?
