R-SIM is a SIM card add-on that looks like a really thin SIM card that mounts on top of your nano sim (or below depending on the model) that allows you to bypass the sim lock by hard coding a new ICCID that is unlocked.

You can buy the R-SIMs off ebay/amazon and they are usually $10 give or take.

It works reasonably well and the wiki talks about how to operate it, the only challenge is sometimes iOS updates break it and sometimes you need a new ICCID but for the most part it's great and allows you to use a SIM locked phone with any provider. and in this case you dont have to wait 180 days with Cricket to get an unlock code.

Keep in mind it is unlike the factory unlocking process which is permanent. Here you are dependent always on the R-SIM.

back in the day it also went by the name Gevey SIM.

As long as you have an old Sprint SIM card laying around (they're reusable)... and an IMEI from a phone that's compatible with Sprint's network, you can sign up for the $5 service (data only) or if you want to play it safe... $6 service (500mb data, 100 min). Pay for service, enter in IMEI and SIM card info, activate. You'll have instant access to a new phone number, pin to access port out info.

Not planning to bother with any referral credits.

My MO is to sell off the boxes, cables, earphones , boxes for about $35 and use the phones for trade-in deals.

Unlocked iphones imei would work .. borrow imei from a friend.. if you did the byod $300 lg phones deal then you would use those ..
Need imei of a unlocked sprint capable phone and sprint sim iccd .. Select custom plan $5 (100 min plus zero data) put order in and activate the new number on tello website. Once active port out option will give account number .. pin will be 0000
If using existing tello account used by you earlier then account number and pin remains same ( no need to create new tello account)
