R-SIM is a SIM card add-on that looks like a really thin SIM card that mounts on top of your nano sim (or below depending on the model) that allows you to bypass the sim lock by hard coding a new ICCID that is unlocked.

You can buy the R-SIMs off ebay/amazon and they are usually $10 give or take.

It works reasonably well and the wiki talks about how to operate it, the only challenge is sometimes iOS updates break it and sometimes you need a new ICCID but for the most part it's great and allows you to use a SIM locked phone with any provider. and in this case you dont have to wait 180 days with Cricket to get an unlock code.

Keep in mind it is unlike the factory unlocking process which is permanent. Here you are dependent always on the R-SIM.

back in the day it also went by the name Gevey SIM.
As long as you have an old Sprint SIM card laying around (they're reusable)... and an IMEI from a phone that's compatible with Sprint's network, you can sign up for the $5 service (data only) or if you want to play it safe... $6 service (500mb data, 100 min). Pay for service, enter in IMEI and SIM card info, activate. You'll have instant access to a new phone number, pin to access port out info.
I bought 2 already. total cost $196 for 2 phones. trade in value of SE at apple is $210

If you don't activate the phone and complete the port-in (ie just want to use the phone as a trade-in), will Cricket charge you?
Yes, you will still be charged. You will have paid the full $114 and some change, then they'll ship out your phone. That money you spent is gone even if you dont activate the line. There's no refund with prepaid as you pay ahead of time for service

I believe you should be able to order the two lines in one order. You can try on the Cricket app to see. When I ordered my one line, I believed it asked me if I wanted to add another line
would that mean only eligible for single referral bonus instead of 2x $25? or is the bonus triggered on number of lines instead of per account?

My order shipped. Definitely jump on this ASAP if you're interested. The last 7 and 8/8+ deal sold out pretty quick.

Just be sure to grab a referral BEFORE activating. I made that mistake and forgot. Then activate once you receive the phone, finish the referral and downgrade to $30 plan. Cricket makes it very easy and service is actually pretty good.

Are they ( cricket) going to charge monthly payment automatically to our credit card that we use to purchase this deal?
No they are not. You have the option to turn on auto pay if you wanted. With prepaid, you could just forget about it, not pay the next bill, and they'll cancel it without you having to do so.

You can still grab a referral, just make sure to have that referral before you activate the line. You don't activate the line till you receive the device (unless you accidentally activate it early on their app or website)

I tried to activate, but I couldn't. "Please confirm your order number and phone number are entered correctly. Then try again."
You can only activate service after they ship your order

NOT affiliated with either seller but I bought these for my SE2 earlier this year and this case and tempered glass screen protector have been great for the (very low) price:

https://smile.amazon.com/urlhasbe...B07V59RL8L

https://smile.amazon.com/Supershi...B07PWR6CGW

Case - just a standard clear case. Buttons work well and case fits well. Screen protector - glass, fairly thick, and applies easily as long as the screen is clean. I recommend installing the screen protector as soon as you peel off the protective plastic so I'd order the screen protectors now. Hope this helps someone!

It'll depend on what you want to do with the lines (keep or throw away) -- if you order together then its less money out of pocket ($60 1st line and $30 2nd line) so easier to throw away the lines

If you want to use both lines then you'll need to figure out what works best for you depending the plan you want -- group plan vs separate

After you get your referral credits in both accounts, contact support to merge the accounts. You'll have both referral credits on there.

From Step 4 of the Wiki: After 2 months on cricket plan, both your new and old accounts are credited each with the $25 referral. The $25 referral credit will apply on the 59th day and you will get a text notifying you of the credit. After the credit posts, 1 day before your third month is charged on your new account, call Cricket customer service to merge your new account with your old account ensuring your $25 credit from the new account is transferred/ merged with your old account and then cancel that additional line that was merged

Sim must be in the phone you are trying to unlock. Doesn't have to be sim it ships with. Just a active Cricket sim
So can I just put the SIM sixth month in the cricket iphone SE and get it unlocked? Or do I need to use the phone during this six month?

You know I'm not sure if they'll let you get two referral bonuses with one account. Hopefully someone else would know, but I'm assuming you might need to have them as separate accounts to take credit of the referral credit

Got one as a xmas present for my son. Can I wait to activate it until closer to xmas? Will that affect the referral bonus?

Pretty sure you can just leave it in. I'm doing some test on that now with the 8plus deal I got a few months back. Even when this phone is dead or turned off the 6 month clock keeps counting down. Search the old deal threads. Lots of good info there.
