R-SIM is a SIM card add-on that looks like a really thin SIM card that mounts on top of your nano sim (or below depending on the model) that allows you to bypass the sim lock by hard coding a new ICCID that is unlocked.

You can buy the R-SIMs off ebay/amazon and they are usually $10 give or take.

It works reasonably well and the wiki talks about how to operate it, the only challenge is sometimes iOS updates break it and sometimes you need a new ICCID but for the most part it's great and allows you to use a SIM locked phone with any provider. and in this case you dont have to wait 180 days with Cricket to get an unlock code.

Keep in mind it is unlike the factory unlocking process which is permanent. Here you are dependent always on the R-SIM.

back in the day it also went by the name Gevey SIM.

As long as you have an old Sprint SIM card laying around (they're reusable)... and an IMEI from a phone that's compatible with Sprint's network, you can sign up for the $5 service (data only) or if you want to play it safe... $6 service (500mb data, 100 min). Pay for service, enter in IMEI and SIM card info, activate. You'll have instant access to a new phone number, pin to access port out info.

Is the 6 months restriction on the phone or on the service?
Phone must stay active for 6 months on Cricket line.

The phone must stay active for 6 months or the newly added line? I am an existing customer, so I can use the phone on my previous line. I am wondering if i can cancel the newly added line after one month or should I pay monthly $30 fee per month for the line for 6 month? Thanks for your attention

I have 1 Mint Mobile trial numbers to port valid for 7 days, if you are interested, please PM me.
I will take $5 AGC provide you with phone number, account number Pin and Zip code.
I used this 3 times now and verified with Cricket chat support that the port was successful!

I will offer you a satisfaction commitment, if you send me clear convincing proof that the number is the problem, I will give you your AGC back.
How did you get the pin for trail card?

My iPhone imei is compatible with Tello and I tried 5 different Sprint sim cards but Tello keeps saying "Oops! Your SIM is not compatible with your phone" Do you have any idea why? I read their support page but still not clear why it doesn't work https://blog.tello.com/tutorials/...lo-mobile/
Are these Sprint SIM cards used? Based on what I tried, the SIM needs to pair with the Phone that was with Sprint.

True. Once a Sprint sim is activated in a phone, it can only work that phone.... this never changes for that sim. It is useless for any other phone.

Never used cricket before, can someone clarify this:
Can I activate iphone and then switch phone (put sim in an android phone) and still be able to unlock iphone after 6 months? or does the 6 month usage has to be on iphone?

The phone has to be used on cricket's network for 6 months. It doesn't matter whether you use it on the number you bought it on or any other cricket number but it needs to be used on cricket for 6 months.

100 apologies for asking questions that have likely been asked in this long thread.....If you are an existing Cricket customer do you have to port over the new number (obtained on eBay, etc) or can you just pop in your old SIM card? Is there any advantage to activating the new number vs. not activating? Will the phone unlock countdown work with old SIM card if the new SIM and account is never activated? Thanks!

That's a good question. I don't know the answer. But there is a way to check this. Use your old sim card and use it for a couple of days. Then go to your original account and request unlock (the new phone's IMEI will be linked to that old sim by this time). It'll tell you how many days are remaining to be eligible for unlocking. If it's less than 180 days then you'll know that unlock countdown is working.

By not activating the new sim card you'll be losing the referral discount of $25 on your original account and also another $25 if there is a possibility of merging both the accounts.

Please keep me posted (if you can) how this goes if you go this route.

You can cancel it but you'll be losing the referral discounts. Read my above post too.

Has anyone tried using their non cricket number to order and get the discounted price, and just never activate? Don't care about referral or prepaid amount.
The port will never complete.
Or will they charge you later for not activating.

I'm a cricket customer.A friend just ordered the phone with a new account. After she placed the order only i sent her my referral link. She has generated a referral code using her email and she plans to use it during account activation. Will both of us get the $25 discount even though she generated the referral code after placing the order? Hope someone could help.
