R-SIM is a SIM card add-on that looks like a really thin SIM card that mounts on top of your nano sim (or below depending on the model) that allows you to bypass the sim lock by hard coding a new ICCID that is unlocked.

You can buy the R-SIMs off ebay/amazon and they are usually $10 give or take.

It works reasonably well and the wiki talks about how to operate it, the only challenge is sometimes iOS updates break it and sometimes you need a new ICCID but for the most part it's great and allows you to use a SIM locked phone with any provider. and in this case you dont have to wait 180 days with Cricket to get an unlock code.

Keep in mind it is unlike the factory unlocking process which is permanent. Here you are dependent always on the R-SIM.

back in the day it also went by the name Gevey SIM.

As long as you have an old Sprint SIM card laying around (they're reusable)... and an IMEI from a phone that's compatible with Sprint's network, you can sign up for the $5 service (data only) or if you want to play it safe... $6 service (500mb data, 100 min). Pay for service, enter in IMEI and SIM card info, activate. You'll have instant access to a new phone number, pin to access port out info.

You need to activate within ~30 days or the $60 service credit will be gone. I know this from waiting too long last spring, but was able to get CS to fund my account when I did finally activate.

Any ideas why verizon port to cricket isnt working? Tried twice, both went to need more information. Physically typed my account and the current password both times.

Is cricket looking fir something else? Both orders my verizon lines got a text notifying of the port and both times canceled by cricket. When i click order status there is nothing to update. Just says they are working with my carrier which is bs.

model number means nothing, i have tested an iPhone XS Max from Spectrum Mobile before, the model number indicated it is a sim unlock model, but it is still locked to Spectrum.
