R-SIM is a SIM card add-on that looks like a really thin SIM card that mounts on top of your nano sim (or below depending on the model) that allows you to bypass the sim lock by hard coding a new ICCID that is unlocked.

You can buy the R-SIMs off ebay/amazon and they are usually $10 give or take.

It works reasonably well and the wiki talks about how to operate it, the only challenge is sometimes iOS updates break it and sometimes you need a new ICCID but for the most part it's great and allows you to use a SIM locked phone with any provider. and in this case you dont have to wait 180 days with Cricket to get an unlock code.

Keep in mind it is unlike the factory unlocking process which is permanent. Here you are dependent always on the R-SIM.

back in the day it also went by the name Gevey SIM.

As long as you have an old Sprint SIM card laying around (they're reusable)... and an IMEI from a phone that's compatible with Sprint's network, you can sign up for the $5 service (data only) or if you want to play it safe... $6 service (500mb data, 100 min). Pay for service, enter in IMEI and SIM card info, activate. You'll have instant access to a new phone number, pin to access port out info.

Just received the phone. Confirm it is locked to cricket. All set up and activated, number transferred from Tello was smooth. Added a referral code for $25 for future use Wink

I ordered Thursday night (a few hours after the deal went live). Shipped UPS Next Day, but they only count business days...

if you are in the 5 lines for $100, don't do a damn thing to screw it up. Don't change that account in any way.

Mine came today, haven't done anything with it yet though. Ordered as soon as this was posted pretty much. Already sent myself a referral from my gf's Cricket account so I'm all set. Porting in from Tello, not expecting any issues.

PSA: Be sure to have the referral sent before you activate (you can order w/o referral). They're time stamped and Cricket will give you an error if you activate then try to get a referral sent to you. Made that mistake on one of my Cricket iPhones from the last deal.
