R-SIM is a SIM card add-on that looks like a really thin SIM card that mounts on top of your nano sim (or below depending on the model) that allows you to bypass the sim lock by hard coding a new ICCID that is unlocked.

You can buy the R-SIMs off ebay/amazon and they are usually $10 give or take.

It works reasonably well and the wiki talks about how to operate it, the only challenge is sometimes iOS updates break it and sometimes you need a new ICCID but for the most part it's great and allows you to use a SIM locked phone with any provider. and in this case you dont have to wait 180 days with Cricket to get an unlock code.

Keep in mind it is unlike the factory unlocking process which is permanent. Here you are dependent always on the R-SIM.

back in the day it also went by the name Gevey SIM.
As long as you have an old Sprint SIM card laying around (they're reusable)... and an IMEI from a phone that's compatible with Sprint's network, you can sign up for the $5 service (data only) or if you want to play it safe... $6 service (500mb data, 100 min). Pay for service, enter in IMEI and SIM card info, activate. You'll have instant access to a new phone number, pin to access port out info.
I bought 2 already. total cost $196 for 2 phones. trade in value of SE at apple is $210

In person at the apple store it is limit 1 trade in per new iPhone purchase, but online at apple you can do more than 1 for an apple gift card. 1 apple account will work for multiples.
Oh cool, I thought it would be harder than that. So just fill out the trade in thing multiple times to get multiple boxes?

Has anyone ever tried porting a mobile Internet (Data ONLY) line from T-Mobile onto Cricket? This would avoid the problem of potentially losing a phone # in the porting process back and forth. Thanks!

I originally did the two phone orders online but entered in the 2nd number incorrectly and customer support couldn't edit it. They said they had to cancel the incorrect line and to go to a store. Went to store and they said they had to make a new account. Ended up paying $172 for one phone at a cricket store. They charged me tax on the full value of the phone and a $25 activation fee. Then cricket canceled my number that did port. When I look on the website phone now costs $249.99 for existing customers. Can someone please advise me? Wanting to trade in both phones to apple.

I received my order today. But the phone number I use to port can't be activated. I want to use the phone for one of my current cricket lines. Is there a problem?
The promotion requires a port-in, so I would secure a # to port in. Better to spend $5-10 to be safe than get charged the difference. As long as you fulfill the port requirement though, you can just put your current Cricket SIM in the phone. You may want to refer yourself to get +$25 on each account after 60 days then combine them to merge the available credit balance.

I've ported data only #'s in and out of T-Mobile. It's just a phone # to T-Mobile and any other carrier so you should not have a problem. I wouldn't do it super often though, may trigger a fraud flag on your T-Mobile account. Best to use something like Tello if you'll do it more than once.

When I was checking out a banner dropped down from the top offering an additional $20 off because its 2020. I clicked Apply and it took off $20 as a promo code that may have been called 'take 20'. I had to hang out on the screen showing the total as $109.99 for awhile for it to appear. Paid $89.99 plus tax for one phone and one month of unlimited service.
Just confirmed this. Crap, I ordered my second one this morning.

Do I need to keep the new sim active over next six months to unlock the phone or as I would be using an existing sim with this phone, it does not matter.
No need to keep new sim active. Just need any active cricket sim in it for 6months.

If you have never availed a free 1 year trial with your Apple ID, then once you open the "Apple TV" app on your iPhone, you will see an offer for 1 year free trial.

How long did you wait and at what step? Nonetheless it's a great deal. Wonder if I can order a third one with same household address...

Just get your cart ready and let it sit, it will come up at the top. Repeated 3 times in a row in different browsers.
