R-SIM is a SIM card add-on that looks like a really thin SIM card that mounts on top of your nano sim (or below depending on the model) that allows you to bypass the sim lock by hard coding a new ICCID that is unlocked.

You can buy the R-SIMs off ebay/amazon and they are usually $10 give or take.

It works reasonably well and the wiki talks about how to operate it, the only challenge is sometimes iOS updates break it and sometimes you need a new ICCID but for the most part it's great and allows you to use a SIM locked phone with any provider. and in this case you dont have to wait 180 days with Cricket to get an unlock code.

Keep in mind it is unlike the factory unlocking process which is permanent. Here you are dependent always on the R-SIM.

back in the day it also went by the name Gevey SIM.

As long as you have an old Sprint SIM card laying around (they're reusable)... and an IMEI from a phone that's compatible with Sprint's network, you can sign up for the $5 service (data only) or if you want to play it safe... $6 service (500mb data, 100 min). Pay for service, enter in IMEI and SIM card info, activate. You'll have instant access to a new phone number, pin to access port out info.

Got the phone today and activated without any problems, but after checking the unlock code, instead of showing the 180days, it mentions :"Your unlock code is not available. Please call Customer Care at 1-800-274-2538 for assistance." Any suggestions? Appreciate for any inputs.

YMMV I guess but my relatives just send me a photo of the front and back of their credit card if I tell them I need to bill/ship something because I hit the limit. Usually with prepaid phone deals over the years. They don't even ask what I'm buying or how much I'm spending anymore LMAO I just Venmo them after.

I was able to order with one of my old inactive numbers. I don't remember if it is a google voice number. When I tried to activate, it shows delay transferring. I guess it is not working. What should I do now? I only need the phone for my current cricket line.

If I move on without activation, will I be charged full price?
Should I buy a number off ebay to replace the bad number? In this case, I need to chat with Cricket CS.
