R-SIM is a SIM card add-on that looks like a really thin SIM card that mounts on top of your nano sim (or below depending on the model) that allows you to bypass the sim lock by hard coding a new ICCID that is unlocked.

You can buy the R-SIMs off ebay/amazon and they are usually $10 give or take.

It works reasonably well and the wiki talks about how to operate it, the only challenge is sometimes iOS updates break it and sometimes you need a new ICCID but for the most part it's great and allows you to use a SIM locked phone with any provider. and in this case you dont have to wait 180 days with Cricket to get an unlock code.

Keep in mind it is unlike the factory unlocking process which is permanent. Here you are dependent always on the R-SIM.

back in the day it also went by the name Gevey SIM.

As long as you have an old Sprint SIM card laying around (they're reusable)... and an IMEI from a phone that's compatible with Sprint's network, you can sign up for the $5 service (data only) or if you want to play it safe... $6 service (500mb data, 100 min). Pay for service, enter in IMEI and SIM card info, activate. You'll have instant access to a new phone number, pin to access port out info.

thanks for the tip, I did what you did but the account # matched what the ebay seller gave me. The rep asked why I was leaving so account was apparently active. Not sure why the port would fail.
Anyone have any insight on why Cricket is not able to complete some of these ports?
Call cricket and confirm they have the right account number. When they ask for your pin use your cricket pin not your boost pin.

Anyone trade in their SE to Apple store for GC directly? Was there any trouble trading like 3 or 4 phones?
Update: I traded in 4 phones just now. Had no problems. Got 4 gift cards! I guess it all depends on the store. The rep was super nice and process took less than 5 min.

My friend went to Natick, MA store today to trade-in two phones he got from here. They asked if this was the Cricket deal that's going around, apparently a lot of locked Cricket phones have come in that management has taken notice. They let him trade-in regardless but looks like trade-in value is going to be dropped to $120 as per the store employee!!

I am screwed! Ordered 4 to trade-in, they won't come until Monday latest! Anyone else see this?!! Better to trade in online I guess.
Ask him to take drive to the Burlington MA store or further north in the Nashua store. No problems and smooth trade-ins. I did 4 phones just now.

Also, if they reject in store, just do it online with Phobio. You'll get your gift card

Also don't forget additional 40 dollar from raku10, don't self refer, they deactivate both the accounts. Get a referral link from eBay and set it up, don't need to buy, all listings will have link below.I tried from the first link that shows up and it worked for me

When I tried to enter the number for port in, I kept getting the error message "Oops, we are having trouble processing your order. Sorry for the inconvenience"
I tried entering different phone numbers from different carriers but I got the same message
What should I do?

Thanks! Bought four in two different accounts (shipped to two different addresses), then traded all 4 into Amazon for $155 each for a profit of about $280 total.

Math:
Cricket: $176.98 each order of two iPhone SEs = $353.96 - 5% for credit card cash back = $336.26
Four phone numbers from eBay = $28.62 - 5% for PayPal checkout = $27.19
Amazon Trade In Credit = $620
Cash Back site = $20

$620 + $20 - $336.26 - $27.19 = $276.55 profit.

Just asking but why did you trade in to amazon for $155 instead of apple for $205?

They might value Amazon dollars more than Apple's overpriced products since Apple rarely go on sale.

I don't care to buy an Apple product (i.e., a lot of folks here are buying multiple iPhone SEs to trade into Apple for a better iPhone). Amazon is good as cash for me.

Cool. Did the trade in go smooth or are you still in the waiting stage?

u could have made nearly that on swappa with 1 phone but no risk of theft. so fair point. LOL

In the waiting stage, but Amazon already fronted the $620 in instant gift cards for me.

Agreed, that you could make much more if you want to go through Swappa, eBay, Facebook Marketplace, etc. But there's virtually no risk going through Amazon, and it's significantly faster and less effort.
