Our community has rated this post as helpful. If you agree, why not thank dealqritiq

This comes with 8940HX zen 4 (tsmc 5nm) which was first released in 2022! Just FYI. It's a good one but not as efficient as the zen 5 or intel ultra models! But it's a 16 core (no efficiency bs cores) model! I still don't get it why AMD releases their actual products 2-3 years after announcing! I haven't seen a single product until today with this chipset! When i first saw the post i thought it was a 9950hx or something based on zen 5 but this is just wrong for the uninformed buyer! Not nice AMD

First of all, this isn't "AMD's fault", it's on the OEM (Asus) for choosing to use it in a modern product. Secondly, even though the CPU architecture is older, it is a powerful processor and the general IPC jump with Zen 5 is considered to be in the 10-15% range. The problem will likely be efficiency so stay away if you are running this on battery a lot. Good creator loadout though, especially with the 5070 Ti. Prob the best CPU/GPU performance for this price point

Checked this out in-store. Seems like a pretty good buy for someone who wants to be a bit more future proofed (12gb vram, replaceable and expandable ram and storage). The screen is the definitely the part they skimped on for this model. 1080p, no HDR. For those that aren't super particular or will be hooking it up to an external monitor it won't be a big deal. Brightness was ok. Not dim, but not something you'd use in direct sunlight. No ports on the back of the laptop though, so not ideal for docking and cable management. Cooling looks pretty significant though on the back which I'd hope would be good for longevity. I'm curious if there is a better bang for the buck 5070ti laptop available right now.

Today? no. We have seen better deals in the past month or so on Omen Max machines even a 5080 at this price point one day which... is crazy lol.

Has anyone tried DIY upgrading this screen from a 1200p 165hz to a 240hz one yet ?

Bought it for strategy games and satisfactory. Works great for those. Screen sucks but for what I do, it's fine. If anyone has a good undervolt guide for this particular CPU, let me know.

I would prefer FHD+, true, but at this size and viewing distance to the user QHD/4k isn't necessary if that's what you're getting at.

FYI: for those that read FHD in the title. It's actually FHD+ which is 1920x1200. It's slightly taller than FHD.
I have an Asus TUF A16 with FHD+ and I think it's ideal with a 16" screen at a 1-2 ft viewing distance.

Better info than that one guy who keep threadcrapping every asus laptop thread because it destroyed their dream of going pro for call of duty due to some silly keyboard issue with asus laptop. If you know, you know

I had one and returned it for a used laptop off eBay. 12700h and 3080ti for $850.

Did you return this one for any other reason than finding a better deal that worked for you? Just wondering if you had any issues or concerns.
