recent previous deals for reference.

got this last time and so far so good.

something to watch out for during shipping is that they will send you the 10 piece kit and separate additional pieces. well, with those additional pieces you might get charged for faster shipping even if you have prime. I had to chat and put my foot down to get that additional shipping back.

i did have 2 different motion sensors trigger a tamper alarm in the middle of the night. a simple open and close of the sensor fixed that. so, at pairing when you pull the first time plastic battery tabs you might want to open and close the sensor.

ebay has good prices on additional pieces like 2 contacts for ~$25, motion for $20-25, and others.

you do not have to buy the gen2 first alert smoke alarm with the scanable QR code. you can use the gen1 without the QR code. ~$30 ebay

The Ecolink garage door tilt sensor can be had for $16-30 ebay.

when it comes to the dome sensor, it definitely is NOT worth $40. battery operated and not loud at all. they can sometimes be found on ebay for $20-30. i plan to hack a couple with a relay to trigger a siren horn.

if you get the ring cam, there is a known bricking issue where when you set them up and they immediately update the firmware they can brick. I did have to exchange one.

if you get the Lighting hub, there is a known issue where the hub will not communicate with older android cells during setup when it links to your cell to get your router ssid and password. if you have that happen just use a newer cell or tablet.

if you have keypads chime in addition to the hub they will be slightly out of sync (if even tells you this). sounds like an echoing effect.

if the keypad red wifi light comes on then you need to use the plugin range extender between the hub and keypad. rule of thumb if you have a good sized house you want to use one repeater in each room or so. additional can be had for $20-25 ebay.

i use the new ring keypad 2nd gen for both ring and smartthings. to differentiate between i put a transparent colored dot on the ones for smartthings.

I'm honestly fine either way, but I spoke to 2 reps that said yes. Why don't we see what happens when it actually arrives. When you call in it might be a different story. I received all of mine already minus the keypad, so these items are technically shipped separately and should work.
Okay, I have placed an order. Let's see once item arrives will call customer care, thanks

Just got mine today, I went to order summary and it shows UPS drop off for $32.28 back to account instantly. Or you can call customer service and arrange for pickup or drop off at Kohl's.

Tried the same with my second motion sensor about $20. Not sure if I want to return that though as it can be pretty useful to act like an addition contact sensor.

Got this over the Costco deal. 1x Extra keypad, 1x extra motion sensor, 2x extra contact sensor, plus free Echo Dot makes this a no brainer. Thanks1
Buying 2 of the Costco cost you $60 more but you net 4 extra contact sensors - equal keypads and equal motion sensors.

How long is this deal going to last? I need to go check on my new house to see how many sensors I'd need lol. Also, is it free returns? Couldn't see a return policy for prime members. Just see that it's returnable until Jan 31at.

Not only can you get $50 off returning keypad, extra motion sensor, echo dot shows up as $18 if u want to return that. Way better than Costco unless u plan to return later.

You can also control the individual volume levels on each keypad, done siren, and the base station speaker.

The retrofit kit is hard to find any deal on. It is $150 solid and consistent. I think I have seen it around $130 a couple of times on eBay, but the price is usually much higher than retail!

I just valued my time after for the extra $20 savings, and just purchased mine at the regular price. Good luck!

I bought the retro kit and set it all up the last 2 days. Have to say the retro kit was so easy to setup for existing door contacts. The motion took a bit of work but got them working.
Cancelled my monitoring with my local alarm company. Now just need to work on replacing the old key pads and reusing the power via adapter that I am waiting for from Amazon.
So far loving this system and so glad I took the advice and little extra research to make the conversion.

Any advice on the Smoke and Co2 looks like there are 2 options. Going to chat with support tomorrow and get them ordered.

Does Ring really not have a good glass break sensor? Seeing info about Alexa Guard but doesn't seem like a great solution.

What do you mean by this? Can we return these items individually after getting this bundle?

Cellular backup is only for 24 hrs.

From what I understand after 24 hours you would not get a phone call because the system wouldn't be working as no battery would be in use.

You're correct. I recently had a three day power outage after an ice storm. Battery lasted for about 24 hours and we didn't receive a notification from Ring. Aside from the "running on battery alert".

On a similar note: Recently, my internet went down for 3 days (physical line got cut outside, just like a bad guy could do). I still had power during this time. Some interesting things happened. Note, I have my ring connected over Ethernet, not wifi.

Ring went into cellular backup. That's good! It told me internet was down in the process.
All my cameras quit working (since they only work over wifi \ with an internet connection, be aware of that).
Then, Ring shut off. Then came back on. Then shut off, etc. Went into a pattern like that.
Contacting support, they said that it wasn't really 'off', but in 'sleep mode', that would wake up if a sensor detected something. I tested this by opening a door (with sensor) while it was 'sleeping'. Did not detect the open. So I reject their logic about sleep mode.

Contacted them with this info: They rebooted the whole system, did a diagnostic, said it was 'fine'. By this point internet was restored.

I'd encourage anyone to really test this system with no internet, or you're operating with a pretty false sense of security

Which is still not better deal because you can get 4 extra sensors on eBay for ~50
