Thanks! Wife asked for one. "For the house not as a gift." I'm wrapping it either way so there's something to put under the tree. Will look nice out on the counter until it's used twice/year for mashed potatoes laugh out loud

I did some quick math to help alleviate this concern. As a disclaimer I have this mixer in red and it is amazing. If you add up all the 1,2 and 3 star reviews you get 418 reviews. Now add up the 4 and 5 star reviews and you get 4177. If you look at this as a percentage it is almost exactly 10%. It's safe to say that more than 10% of the general public are not good equipment reviewers or users for that matter. I meet people that honestly can't tell me how to get to their house, they have no idea what roads they take they just drive them. If 90% of the reviews are 4 and 5 star, that's a bet I'll take, I can promise you that. This is a solid mixer, it'll sell out at this price. I got it for $219 about 4 years ago and it's still running strong and 0 complaints here.
Thanks for the info.

What do you think about the idea that this model isn't good at small batch work?

I think it's great at small batch work, although I do have a few different mixing blades and paddles to choose from. You can actually manually move this up if you need to momentarily to help you mix thoroughly. My 12 year old daughter can use it with no problem and essentially taught herself with me watching and making sure her hair was pulled back, no kidding. If you spend a few more dollars on Amazon or any place of your choice and get some decent paddle style mixing blades and anything else you may need, you can't go wrong. Also, for what it's worth, I have all black appliances and still bought red, I don't regret that a bit either, it's gorgeous.

Different model/version. The one in this post is 6 series (bigger motor and metal gears) vs. the one you're referring to is 5 series (lesser motor and plastic gears).

Please note this is not Pro-600 series. It is similar but bit different construction.

"The gear housing is also the older style die-cast, not that plastic case the Pro 600 had for a while. Otherwise, the control board is different with fewer parts, the IC DIP package noticeably missing, and the hall effect sensor soldered to the board, instead of attached with a connector."

But this one has hight power of 590 compare to 575 of Pro-600. And Much cheaper.

Slightly different version, that one was for the Professional 5. The bowl is smaller at 5qt and the motor is rated for 525 watts I think. This one also comes with a flex edge beater which is the paddle/mixer attachment that scrapes the sides of the bowl for you.

I ended pulling the trigger. Same price as Costco Business Warehouse deal a few days ago, which was not available to everyone.

I'm not a baker nor am I into it, but (I think) I want a mixer to knead dough (for pizza). Based on my research, most KA appliances struggle with dough, which is why I wanted to buy Bosch or Ankarsrum, but at this price and the fact I can easily return it to Costco, I figured what the heck.. and decided to get it.

My only question is if it's worth the price difference between this and the 5 series? Per KA's website, 5 has a smaller motor, but I believe most people on SD said it's the same as 6. The 6 comes with steel gears where as (allegedly) 5 comes with plastic.
Get the 6 as it is made to withstand additional use for professional setting.

Any one know if the silver or red come with the extra attachments that show up with the black?
