While this doesn't match perfectly I wanted to give you my comparison repost of hiking shoes
My Review of some shoes when I want to REI
1. Hoka Speedgoat Mid 2 GTX - are insanely awesome, light weight and comfortable BUT $200. Seriously in a league of its own. A+
2. Merell Moab Ii - which some dude mentioned. Very nice, comfortable for $120. A little heavy but not bad.
3. Believe it or not Timberland Maddsen Mid WP at $99. REALLY comfortable and light weight. Probably wont last nearly as long as the MOABs. Pretty sure it was lighter than the Moabs
4. Columbia Newton Ridge Plus II - disappointed by how uncomfortable they are and the weird fit on size 12. Garbage shoe
The Timberland's destroyed the Columbia Newton shoe and was on par with the Merells

I've had a pair of these for about 10 or so years. I quite like them. I've had about 6 pairs of Merrell shoes (mostly light, ventilated shoes) and these fit pretty consistent. I have brown and they look great. In for a black pair. Thanks, OP!
In for one at $53.99 plus tax. The 10% off code worked for me.
Thanks OP! This is great for the 5-10 times a year I hike in the cold. It's not often I need these, but when you do need them, it's a lifesaver for comfort.

How do you feel about these in warm weather? I live in Texas, and I am worried about the fleece lining being too hot. I am sure my decision should be obvious based on the fleece haha. Man, these would be gold if I still lived in Michigan.

They are warm. I also live in Texas. I would not want to wear these in the summer in Texas. For that I have Merrell Tetrex Rapid Crest Water Shoe.

as soon as it got warm for me in philadelphia i had to switch even though i was trying to endure it
made feet really sweaty
Hey, I just bought the brown pair of Merrell Boots for $54!! The price when down to $59.99 and after the 10% coupon, I was out the door at $54 + tax. Excellent deal!!

Thanks for the heads up. I would be using them for hiking around the 1.5 hour radius of Austin, and as you know, our winters here are quite short haha. Maybe good to have for those short months though? I feel like our winters are so mild that regular hiking shoes/boots work year around.
