Guys (and Gals), you don't have to put in your SSID NOR your Birthday. I put a date in there, then deleted it, then clicked next so i have nothing put for SSID or birthday. Then I input my bank info, and thats it. Done.

Same. No SS was needed. It allowed me to skip

I received the offer, but it kinda sucks, cuz if I agree to this they're taking away a big chunk of the sale right away sometimes. Gotta pay the commission right away instead of having a month. I forget if they're going to make you pay for Fedex shipping fees up front, but if they are that's a big chunk of the sale off the break.

I gave my "business" EIN number. I'll see if they approve. I only sell my used stuff and not actually a business. But I do not want to give out my social. Even PayPal doesn't have my social
Paypal forced me into it the other day. I have been selling a decent amount of stuff this year as did some COVID junk cleaning, but it's under $1000. They restricted my account and wouldn't let me accept payments, or sell anything until I gave them something. So they got me, but I'm gonna be pist if I end up with a tax form end of year.

I wonder how much of a hit paypal is gonna take from this. Paypal's stock has gone bananas, but Paypal gets 99% of ebays transactions. Not anymore.

If this is an offer that makes u sign up for managed payments you'll probably have to provide checking account info (ebay is moving away from paypal and once u r in managed payments ebay will be the one that collects and distributes money to you, not paypal). Eventually all sellers have to be in managed payments but you're not required till they inform you that you have to sign up). Two of my accounts are in managed payments.

Giving checking account info to eBay? No thank you. I'll stick with credit cards where I have a firewall at my disposal, no way they get direct entry. $15 payoff is hardly enough to make me change my mind.

Even if they give you a tax form, you don't have to declare since it's not a business cost of the items is greater than the selling price. Most likely you sold everything at a loss

That's why I have a checking account specifically for this purpose.

eBay is a horrible selling platform now and I refuse to sell anything with them. They side with the buyer at all times so if you sell anything and they want a refund you are forced to give them a refund, even if they scam you by sending you a box with a rock inside as a return.

Why are they moving away from PayPal? Doesn't eBay own PayPal anyways?
They spun it off in 2015.

IKR...not too mention those pesky state sales taxes on "used" items! UGH

Paypal and others like Square don't send 1099s unless you gross more than $20K/yr and more than a few hundred transactions (I don't recall the exact number). I've been selling on ebay since 1997 and have never been sent one and have sold upwards of $10K/yr sometimes.

Edit: here's the link

https://www.paypal.com/us/smarthe...ent-faq729

PayPal will track the payment volume of your account(s) to check whether your payment volume exceeds both of these levels in a calendar year:

$20,000 USD in gross payment volume from sales of goods or services in a single calendar year
200 payments for goods or services in the same year*

If they send you a 1099, you can bet the IRS is getting a copy.

Not everyone sells things for a loss, especially if they get more than 20K in payments per year but even if you do, you still have to report to the IRS your payments and deductions.

I've been enrolled in managed payments for a couple of months now and am pretty satisfied with it since I no longer have to deal directly with PayPal. As far as I'm aware, if a buyer wants to cancel an order, I no longer get stuck with the 2.9% processing charge. Also, buyers no longer have a 180 day return period through paypal. Yes, eBay still sucks as a whole for sellers, but having to deal with one less crap company like PayPal works for me.
